Moreška sword dance is definitely a must-see when You are in Korčula! Originating in Spain, Moreška is a traditional sword dance and drama that depicts two kings and their conflict as one captures the fiancée of the other. It was common throughout the Mediterranean in the 12th and 13th centuries, reaching Korčula in the 16th century from Italy and Dubrovnik. Over time the Mediterranean’s interest in Moreška dwindled, and now the dance can only be found in Korčula, where it has been performed for over four hundred years.
