When you are in Lumbarda you definitely have to visit Badja.
A small island in Korcula Archipelago that features 14th-century Franciscan Monastery, some nice beaches and swimming spots as well as good walks to the top of the hill with great views. It is one of the largest islands in the Archipelago situated on the east side of Korcula Old Town, about 15 minutes taxi boat ride from Korcula’s harbour. (see the detailed schedule in bio)

WHY LUMBARDA?

1.Lumbarda's beaches are paradise for children and families and are considered to be among the finest in Korcula Island. Local travel agents and renting companies have a well-stocked water sports equipment near the seafront offering windsurfing boards, paddleboards, sea kayak and boat hire, just to mention a few.

2. GRK white wine, a world famous product is made here for hundreds of years. It is produced from the native grapevine variety that is considered to be one of the best white wines in Korcula island and beyond. The unique location of Grk vineyards are mostlx situated in fertile sandy fields.

3. Just 10 minutes driving distance from Korčula City that is linked to the mainland by a regular ferry service that runs between Dominče, just outside Korčula and Orebić. There are numerous other local ferry services including one linking Vela Luka and Lastovo.

The main Croatian ferry operator runs a service linking Korčula Town with Rijeka, Split, Hvar, Mljet, Dubrovnik and (from May to September) Bari. An operator Linijska nacionalna plovidba runs a seasonal service linking Korčula with Drvenik. So you might as well say you are in the centre of the world🔆

4.One of the islands in all Mediterranean with biggest number of sunny hours!

In Lumbarda you will experience a pleasant Mediterranean climate with warm dry summers and mild winters. The Mediterranean Sea has a major influence on the climate in Korcula. For example during the warmest days of the year, the wind can provide some pleasant cooling. August has an average maximum temperature of 30.0°C (86°F) and is the warmest month of the year.

5. Delicious gastronomy you will never forget! Homemade olive oil is used for cooking. Since there is a lot of wine, the island population use it not only as a drink but also as a condiment.

Every day locals catch fresh fish, squids and shrimps or labstors. Fish are grilled, fried, boiled, and an excellent fish stew with vegetables, brodet, is especially popular.

Brodet is served with polenta, a porridge of coarsely ground maize meal. Milk is obtained from sheep and goats, and island women make very good cheese.
