Hello our dear followers and football fans!
Here we are approaching Christmas and the draw for the European Championship Football next June, to be held in France was completed.
Croatia have a realistic chance of progressing through the group stages.
Croatia have drawn Turkey, Spain and Czech Republic.
So, next summer we are going to support Croatia to win the tournament!

Since it is already Christmas time and time of presents, we have decided to write also something for our "small" followers. :)
We all know about St.Nicola - that dear, old man with long white beard who leave some gifts on our boots during the night (if we were good during the year, of course :) ).
But, if you ask children, many of them will know also about Saint Lucia. Probably they don't know who she was, but they will know that she will also give them some gifts (and comparing saint Nicola, saint Lucia do not need clean boots :D ).

Day of St.Lucia is December 13th and she is known as patron of eyes (because legend says that they took her eyes out and put them on plates), farmers, tailors...
We celebrate her day on December 13th what is exactly 12 days till Christmas. Old people were believing that every day from December 13th till Christmas is one month in coming year and were using that like guidelines for weather.
The weather on 13.12.2015 actually means weather during whole January 2016.
Also, on her day people still sowing wheat as symbol of Christian life.
So, children, do not forget this date because maybe in the morning you will find something next to your bed :)

The olive harvest normally takes place from mid October (but may vary depending on the weather).

Olive tree is the “sacred tree” of the human kind and olive trees have been grown with special care and attention. Same applies even for picking
The traditional process is fairly easy: bring out the ladders and big sheets of fabric or anything similar and divide into groups. Some climb the tree, some climb the ladder but most stay on the ground collecting the fruits that fall down on the fabric.
Small trees don’t need any of the equipment and those are usually picked from the ground.

Olive oil on Croatian coast was regarded as one of the highest quality “in the World” even from the Roman times:

The best thing out of all this is that new groves and trees are planted every year, people are investing in new technologies and designing various bottles/packages and more and more families can support themselves on their own land!
Simply put, the olive tree seems to be out of this world. At least, that’s how resistant it is. In fact, it’s so resistant it remains a mystery how it hasn’t replaced entire forests by now. Its origins date way before Jesus Christ was even an idea to begin with.

As you all know, we are situated in Makarska. Makarska is a busy town with a beautiful harbour with many restaurants, bars and shops, also a boulevard that runs along the sea front, which is a pleasant walk, or a place where you can find plenty of activities.
One of those activities is definitely Biokovo mountain. If you like hiking, biking or just go there with your car, even like that you can rich the top.
Biokovo is always good choice if you are around. And no matter if it is spring, winter, summer or autumn, you will not regret spending your time there.
Here are some pictures of first snow in this year on Biokovo. It was not to much, but was enough to have fun ;)

This week is a sad day for the people of Croatia.
Croatian people are today in deep sadness because of all of us are remembering one of the biggest inhumane acts on Croatian people. Lots of you will know what was happening in this nice country during 1991. Croatia was in war.
Lots of people lost their lives, families and houses.
During Homeland war between Croatia and Serbia one of the biggest and the worst things that happen was in Vukovar.
Vukovar is a city in Slavonija, part of Croatia.
After 87 days of fighting for that town, the Serbian army came into Vukovar and into a hospital where children, women and wounded soldiers were hiding. They took all of them to Ovčara – farm, and killed everyone of them.
Ovčara was a farm before, but today is known as a mass grave of Croatian people.
The Serbian plan was to destroy Vukovar and come to Zagreb as the capital city today in Croatia but they did not succeed.
Croatian people were left without any weapons but they stayed in their town and saved Vukovar.
Today, Vukovar is a symbol of Serbian aggression but also a town full of heroes who made a big sacrifice for the freedom of the Croatia people.

On this day, every year the people remember the people who lost their lives and their families.
We pray that “Vukovar” never happens again!

If you have ever been in Croatia you will know that the Croatian currency in KUNA. But do you know what "kuna" means on Croatian?
It is not just currency, it is croatian name for an animal, marten. :)
Now, when you are "smarter" for one more fact about Croatia, we wish you a very pleasant weekend.

Dear followers,
How are you these days?
We need to say, we have just had some fun last days in the sun and on the beach, Yeah, yeah,,,, Swimming in the sea is still possible in Croatia!
Sea temperature is around 20®/21®, same as outside, and days are great; sunny and warm.
Now is the time for “last minute” bookings. It’s still nice to come here and enjoy our lovely country.
And guess what? Next week is going to be even warmer than it was last week.

Did you know Croatia invented the necktie?

However you may feel about the modern-day office noose, we have Croatia to thank for it, and it may very well be Croatia’s most successful export. After all, it used to be called the cravat, and where did the word cravat come from? Croat.

The origins of the necktie go all the way back to the 17th century, when Croatian mercenaries fought for the French in the Thirty Years’ War, bringing their distinctively knotted neckwear along with them.
From there it spread to other militaries, other countries, and, eventually, into the cubicles of modern-day offices and other fancy places. The knotting became distinctive enough that it simply became known as a tie, and here we are today.

But hey, it’s not all bad. If it weren’t for Croatian soldiers popularizing the necktie, we might all still be stuck with the Spanish ruff. We owe you one, Croatia.

We just had to share this with you!
Croatia is beauty, Croatia is nice coast, lovely people, wonderful islands, but Croatia, and especially Dalmatia and under all that, Hajduk is everything!
Here is just part of atmosphere in Split, in 2006, while they were waiting for football match to start.
Just play video and you will see how it looks like when 30000 people singing like one! You will see one BIG heart beating just for Hajduk!
We don’t doubt that right now there is same situation.

So, how was it on the big Pirates event in Omiš?
We had a great, great time, as usually.
Once again Omis showed how real life looked like in the 13th century. After all technology which we have today, it’s even hard to imagine how life was before.
More than 100 000 visitors each year? Huh, that must be something!
So, we are waiting for your opinion? :)

As time flies by, we wanted to let you know that there is still a lot to do and a lot to see.
No matter what that summer is near the end soon, be here with us and try to get new great memories of these beautiful coast and way of our living. We are sure you are going to enjoy it!
In spirit of that, this time we wanted to tell you something about Omiš.
Omiš is really worth seeing. Not only because of natural beauty (sea, river, mountains) but also because of a long history which we owe to the Pirates.
Yeah, yeah, to the Pirates!
As we said, this small town is situated on the mouth of the river Cetina. There you can see pure love of the sea, river and mountains.
In the same city, a long time ago, to be exact in 13th century, Pirates were “bosses” of the town.
Omiš pirates were one of the best and most known in that time.
If you don’t believe us, you should be in Omiš 18.08.2015 at 19:30.
Come and see for your own eyes what we are talking about.
Guys from Omiš are preparing a nice pirate battle.
This unique event is visited by more than 100 000 visitors each year.
Be one of them, you are all so welcome.
