Exactly 140 years ago, Dr. Conrad Clar arrived in Mali Lošinj with his son Walter, who was recovering from a serious illness. He was the first tourist in Mali Lošinj, marking the beginning of tourism in the town ‼️
The celebration of the 140th Anniversary of Tourism on the island,
we'll celebrate throughout 2025 with a variety of events!

HUG A PINE-TREE
Lošinj is one of the most afforested islands on the Adriatic, however, it is not the work of nature, but Professor Haračić who started the afforestation of the island karst in 1886. In the first six years, half a million seedlings of Aleppo pine wre planted, of which 300,000 survived. A great deal of them has endured all the droughts, strong winds, and storms for over 130 years. Their imposing trunks rise high above footpaths through the forest and coastal promenades on Čikat, where the proud “green professor”, a bronze statue of Ambroz Haračić, watches over them. Find your pine-tree and hold it tight; you will hold the very soul of Lošinj.
