Vintage Villa Magnolia is located in Veruda, a historical residential suburb of P**a, close to the magnificent Adriatic coast with pebble & rocky beaches and crystal clear sea. The coast is covered with pine tree forest and offers plenty of shade, lovely walks and swimming. The P**a town centre is also in a walking distance from the Villa Magnolia. Villa was built in 1913 when this area was still

a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Most of the original style and interior is preserved today and is listed as a heritage building. There are still other villas in the neighbourhood, all belonging to eminent people of Austro-Hungarian Navy. Not surprisingly, the next-door neighbour was naval captain von Trapp with his singing family, made famous in a musical "Sound of Music". The house is tranquil and spacious and has a large garden or park. There are three bedrooms, named Magnolia, Mimosa and Camelia, situated on the second floor. Camelia Room is a large double bedroom with a view of the park. You can even catch a glimpse of the sea through the window. Mimosa is a smaller but comfortable double bedroom, while Magnolia is a spacious twin bedroom. There are two toilets and a large bathroom, a modern kitchen and a living room with TV. WiFi internet is also available to our guests. The garden terrace sports a gazebo and garden table, and there are a smaller table and chairs on the porch by the entrance - perfect for breakfasts. P**a city centre is about 20min walk away and is full of lively bars, cinema, restaurants, shops... The roman arena/colosseum hosts many exciting events such as P**a international Film Festival, concerts (Leonard Cohen & Joe Cocker, ...), Outlook Festival, etc. You can go on day trips with the boat to other Istrian towns (Rovinj/Rovigno, Poreč/Parenzo, Umag...), visit Lim channel with its oysters (locally called 'fjord') or islands of Brijuni, enjoy jazz in the authentic old village of Bale or attend a meteor rain event in Višnjan... There are boats to Venice and various islands along the Croatian coast, buses to Plitvice Lakes, Slovenia and Italy...

P**a also hosts many musical festivals and events, some of them international and visited by people from all over, such as Outlook and in the past there was a Valkane Beach Party (it was even featured on MTV) and lots of rave parties in Austrian fort Burgignon. P**a is a host to the annual biker meeting when a “cavalry” of bikers ride into town from all over the world. History lovers can explore the Archaeological museum and a lovely exhibition about tribe of Histrians who used to live on the Istrian peninsula. There are many historical places in and around P**a and much of the history is incorporated into the city life: already lively and well visited Roman arena/colosseum, Roman gates leading to Roman Forum, remains of Agripina's house, and much more. More active guests can enjoy lovely jogging paths with exercise spots scattered along the coast and shaded with pine trees, many sports activities near beaches, cycling trips, swimming, windsurfing, water skiing, parachutes, scuba diving, sailing, etc. Those more leisurely types can take advantage of holistic treatments offered in Vintage Villa Magnolia, such as massages, Shiatsu, Reflexology, Acupressure, Yoga, Meditations, and so on. The garden is suitable for quiet exercises (Tai Chi, Yoga, etc.), sunbathing, resting, evening drinks and sunrise breakfasts.

Our Story

Vintage Villa Magnolia is located in the historic residential suburb Veruda in the city of P**a, within walking distance to the magnificent Adriatic coast with crystal clear sea. Villa was built in 1913 when this area was still part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, by a navy officer Julius Riedlein, who lived there with his wife Eugenia and daughter Ingrid. This was a neighbourhood of family homes of eminent members of the Austro-Hungarian Navy. Not surprisingly, the next-door neighbour was naval captain Georg von Trapp better known as the head of the singing family in the movie "Sound of Music".

We have named our house Villa Magnolia after the ancient magnolia tree in the garden, which was brought from Asia when the house was first built. It has beautiful white flowers which smell like perfume. The house is cosy, tranquil and spacious and has a large garden (park). We think it's a happy house and we love living there and looking after it, striving to preserve as much of the original setup, furnishing and feel, as possible. And we love sharing it with our guests, who can either hire one of the rooms (each has its bathroom) or the whole apartment.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable, the kitchen is modern and well equipped, and there's also a lounge/dining room or Blue Room. You can have breakfast on the porch by the entrance door and dinner with your evening drink on a comfortable patio in the garden. If you are staying in the house during the lunchtime, you can choose to have lunch in the dining room. We have also provided gazebos and deckchairs for your comfort.

The garden is quite large and full of lush greenery, offering plenty of shade. The town centre is within walking distance from the house, as are all the amenities (market, banks, bakeries, bars, post office, pizzeria, grocery shops, etc.). You can enjoy lovely sunrise or sunset walks along the beaches, dine in one of the open-air seaside restaurants, or have fun in beach bars. The fragrant pine tree forest stretches to the coast and offers plenty of shade. There is a road that runs along the beaches, and a jogging path is parallel to the road, but it runs through the pine forest.it runs through the pine
