A great tour with a wonderful family from the USA. In fact, it was my first food tour with kids and I loved it! The young participants had fun at the market sampling the honey, cheese and ham. Soparnik, a Dalmatian specialty, was also on the menu. Instead of wine, the kids had juice on the food tour and delicious ice cream for dessert. A big thank you to our partner, , who hosted us for a degustation of croatian specialties during the tour.

On May 7th, Split commemorated its city patron saint, Domnius, known as "Sveti Duje" in Croatian. This annual celebration, known as Sudamja, has been the largest local holiday in Split for centuries, always observed on the same day. Sudamja honors the memory of Domnius, an early Christian bishop who served in the nearby Roman City of Salona and was martyred in 304 AD. The remains of St. Domnius are kept in a sarcophagus within the Split Cathedral. During Sudamja, the protective screen is removed from the sarcophagus, allowing visitors to see the relics through a glass pane. Additionally, a symbolic procession carries a bust of St. Domnius across the Riva, and a grand open-air service takes place there. The festivities include concerts and various activities suitable for the whole family to enjoy.

This time we had the opportunity to visit them during the Night of Museums. Marjan was a holy hill and a place of pilgrimage in the Middle Ages. The church of St. Jerome dates from the 15th century. The caves existed before that. Hermits lived there in poverty, mainly on charity.

The Blaca Hermitage, situated on Croatia’s Brač island, stands as a 16th-century monastic complex. It was established by monks who sought refuge from Turkish attacks on the mainland. As time passed, the hermitage evolved into an advanced agricultural estate; however, neglect eventually set in. The valley encompassing the hermitage also fell into disrepair, succumbing to natural vegetation overgrowth. Father Nikola Milićević, the final resident who led a solitary spiritual life while pursuing scientific investigations, resided there until his passing in 1963. Nestled discreetly within the island’s interior, the monastery remains concealed from coastal views but can be accessed through a brief stroll. For those traveling by car, a descent from the upper monastery parking lot takes approximately 30 minutes through a small forest. A monumental sculpture of a bull now graces the museum's collection, thanks to his incredible contribution.Dalibor Stošić, born in Split and shaped by his childhood in Paris, pursued his studies in Zagreb and eventually became a renowned artist and educator at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. His exceptional talent has earned him numerous international awards and accolades. Today, he divides his time between Zagreb, Paris, Nice, and Split, finding inspiration in the sun, sea, and the art of sailing.During this memorable occasion, the donation was presented during a public dialogue led by Mr. Branko Franceschi, the director of the National Museum of Modern Art in Zagreb, and Mrs. Jasminka Babić, the director of the Split Gallery of Fine Arts.
