The Diocletian Palace in Split was built in the late 3rd century AD as an old-age retreat for the Roman emperor Diocletian. Over the years, the ancient fortress grew into the lively Old Town it is today with its numerous shops, cafés, restaurants and a hotel. Spend a night here and you will understand why the Roman emperor chose Split as his retirement place of enjoyment!

Regrann from - Roman Emperor Diocletian built his massive summer home in , Croatia at the turn of the 4th century. Today, the fort-like palace forms half of the old town, making the original royal structure indistinguishable from the restaurants, bars, and homes of the modern residents. History literally surrounds you – how cool is that? -
