Here is another nice and comfortable mountain lodge in Split-Dalmatian region. Enjoy Dalmatia brings you mountain lodge Sveti Jakov (St. James) in the Dalmatian hinterland, micro-location Gornji Bitelic. Its name is associated with the 200m distant foundations of the former chapel of St. James from the 15th century.
Located on m. Troglav at 1001m altitude, the lodge is a nice and fully equipped two-floor house that consists of a living room, kitchen and three bedrooms that can accommodate up to 20 persons. The lodge is maintained by the mountaineering association Sveti Jakov at Gornji Bitelic.

Let’s continue with presenting nice and cozy mountain lodges in the Dalmatian region. Today Enjoy Dalmatia brings you mountain lodge Promina in Sibenik hinterland. Located on Promina at 850m altitude, the lodge is a large brick building with a living room, kitchen and six spacious dormitories that can accommodate up to 50 people. It was built by the mountaineering association Promina from Drnis. It was devastated in the Homeland War, but was thoroughly rebuilt after the war. Located in central Dalmatia, near Split, Trogir is the perfect place to plan a day trip during spring or summer. It lies on a small island connected to the mainland by bridges.
Trogir is known for having a historic centre which is considered the most preserved medieval town in central Europe. It is often referred to by many tourists as an open museum due to the series of Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque structures found in the town. Everywhere you look, there is beautiful architecture, stunning sea views, and palm trees. Also, Trogir’s Old Town was voted the best city-island in the world by National Geographic in 2015, so it is not a place you want to miss!

Located on mountain Kozjak, Malačka peak at 477 m altitude. It is famous for its spectacular view of the sea, Kastela Riviera and Split. The lodge has a living area, kitchen and sanitary area with its own water tank, it can accommodate up to 50 people – one of more comfortable lodges in this area.

Today Enjoy Dalmatia present to you the mountain lodge Trposnjik. Trposnik is located in the eastern part of Mosor mountain above the village of Gata. The mountain lodge is at 970m altitude, and was built by the Mount.and Eco. Association Gata. It is a simple stone house beautifully blended into the rugged terrain that surrounds it. The house offers a clear view of the canyon of the river Cetina and the hinterland of Omis. Towards Trpošnik, there is an old, undemanding path until the very top, where the last twenty minutes’ walk is through the rocks. The entire trail offers a view of Gata, Omis and the islands. Today we are introducing mountain lodge Orlove Stine (Svilaja Mountain) at 1065m altitude which is built in a valley below the peak of Orlova Stina. From the terrace of the home there is a very nice view of the massif of Biokovo, Matokit, Mosor and Kozjak. The home has available 38 beds and two bathrooms.

Today we are introducing Mountain lodge Umberto Girometta, at 868 altitude on Mosor mountain. It was built in the forest above the vast green valley of Ljuvač. The lodge is named after the popular president of Mosor Mountaineering association who is credited with building it. The lodge can accommodate up to 80 persons overnight.

🥾Trail runners and hiking sneakers may be purpose built for tackling tough terrain, but many of them became a very comfy everyday shoes.
🧥A waterproof shell raincoat can be used as a barrier against wind and rain as part of a layering system, or alone in warm wet weather

What safety guidelines to follow when going mountaineering? Croatian Mountain Rescue Service lists the following:
🥾never mountaineer alone always inform someone about your route and expected time of return
🥾leave a written trace in mountaineering evidence books in lodges and peaks
🥾ask experienced mountaineers for advice and take them into consideration
🥾prepare yourself for weather condition changes
🥾pack spare clothes and protection from elements (rain, wind)
🥾always pack a headlamp to be able to move in case of low visibility or during nightfall
☝always pack your first aid kit
🥾always pack a map and compass, and learn to use them correctly
☝follow marked trails
🥾hiking boots are essential for mountaineering
☝don’t go mountaineering in the days following serious rain or snowfall
☝pack your mobile phone with a fully charged battery
☝learn how to read coordinates of your location using a smartphone.
Thanks to the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service you will be able to peacefully enjoy in the activity and scenery if you stick by the above rules.
