Roški slap waterfall 🏞️
At the half-way point of the Krka, there is a series of small cascades called the Necklaces 💧, and nearby there are numerous traces of human inhabitation from the prehistoric 🗿 to the industrial age 🏭. That makes this the second most visited waterfall on the Krka. 🌊

🐎 The first Sunday in the month of August is reserved for Sinjska Alka - the ancient chivalric game that has been alive for over three centuries. It is held in the memory of the glorious victory of the knights of Sinj against Ottoman invaders that besieged Sinj in 1715.

🎯 In this unique knightly equestrian competition, Alkars on horseback are riding in full gallop through the town's main street aiming to spear an iron alka hanging across the racecourse.The goal is to get through the ring with the spear - it gets harder as the ring gets smaller and higher off the ground. Participants are dressed in traditional clothes, and no one equips an Alkar as well for a jousting as his mother, sister or wife.

🏅 The Alka of Sinj is truly an authentic expression of local heritage, and this was recognized by UNESCO, which in 2010 inscribed it on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It is a symbol of unity and a reminder of the importance of preserving tradition and identity.

💂‍♂️ The fact that only men born in Sinj and surrounding villages are eligible to compete, makes this event even more prestigious.

The importance of Visovac Island in the Catholic Church is also seen in a 16th-century document 📜, in which Pope Innocent XI granted forgiveness for all those seeking in prayer during a visit to Visovac on 2 August. 🙏 On that day, the Feast of Our Lady of the Angels is celebrated, and thousands of believers from around the world make a pilgrimage to Visovac 🌍.

O važnom položaju Visovca u Katoličkoj crkvi svjedoči dokument iz 16. st.📜 kojim papa Inocent XI. dodjeljuje oprost onima koji ga molitvom zatraže za posjeta Visovcu 2. kolovoza. 🙏 Toga se dana slavi Gospa od Anđela, pa na Visovac hodočaste tisuća vjernika iz cijeloga svijeta 🌍.
