3000 years ago, on the K*k hill, this oldest town on the upper Adriatic was located.
Today's town of Senj is located below the slopes of the mountains of Kapela and Velebit.
During the Roman rule, the city of Senj experienced its flourishing. The rich legacy of that time has been preserved to this day.
As a symbol of the city and one of the attractions, Fort Nehaj, is located on the hill Trbušnjak, often called the Nehaj hill.

The castle is located in the Silesian Voivodeship and was built by King Casimir the Great, who left behind many castles all over Poland.
The Bobolice stronghold was part of the entire defense system so-called Eagles’ Nests, intended to protect the western border of the Polish state.

Leuchtenburg Castle towers 400 metres high above the valley, visible from far afield. This castle complex is almost 1000 years old and here you can feel the breath of history and discover internationally renowned architecture.
On the "Skywalk of Wishes", you float over the valley and you can "break something and mend your luck", as the German saying goes.

Also known as the Red Tower, built in 1649 as a watchtower, St. Agatha’s Tower has seen plenty of use during its time, including through both world wars.
Perched on the top of Marfa Ridge it’s a striking view on the drive through Mellieha up towards the ferry port for Gozo island.

The Aqueduct Veluwemeer is a navigable aqueduct over the N302 road near Harderwijk, in eastern Netherlands.
It is located under a small part of the lake Veluwemeer and at the same time connects the mainland Netherlands to Flevoland, which happens to be the largest artificial island in the world.

Found on the high ground of the Murge plateau, Castel del Monte, protected by UNESCO since 1996, appears as part of an ideally balanced scene between symbolism, architecture and nature. It is a perfect octagon, symmetrical, and you can admire it from almost any angle.
The number eight, the Christian symbol of the union between God and man, repeats itself throughout this masterpiece: an octagon building, with octagonal towers and an internal octagonal courtyard, flanked by eight rooms on each floor.

Dodoši is an old fishermen’s village situated just on the banks of the Skadar lake.
Amazing ambiance and good national food attract a lot of Montenegrin people as well as foreigners.
The silkworm was grown here and produced silk from which the fishermen were making fishing nets.

Established in the 3rd century BC, on the top of the hill, as an Etruscan village, San Gimignano has developed into a small, vibrant town surrounded by walls.
Fascinating medieval architecture, especially its towers adorn this city.
During the 13th and 14th century, the patrician families of San Gimignano built around 72 tower-houses as symbols of their wealth and power, however, only 14 have survived.
Many examples of Romanesque and Gothic architecture spread throughout the town.
Piazza della Cisterna, the main square, is one of the examples, as well as Piazza Duomo with the Collegiate Church at the top of the square.
This old part of the city, due to its uniqueness, found its place on the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Located in the Inn valley, between high mountains, beautiful images of the surrounding landscape can be seen wherever you look.

Numerous historical buildings in the city center are intertwined with attractive modern landmarks.

Harburg Castle is one of the jewels of the Romantic Road. Wonderfully preserved, the castle sits high on a hill and overlooks the town for which it's named.
The castle complex, including the castle house, chapel, sentry walk (complete with holes through which to pour hot oil on invading marauders!), prison tower, dungeon, and various buildings used to support the inhabitants, is surrounded by a wall supporting six towers.
Harburg Castle is a must-see when traveling the Romantic Road.

Located right on the border with Germany is this Austrian, baroque city.
Turbulent past and wars had no impact on it and remained one of the most preserved cities north of the Alps. That's why it ended up on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
We must not forget that Salzburg is the birthplace of one of the greatest composers W.A. Mozart and a shooting location for "The Sound of Music".

This former capital of the Bosnian kings is located in central Bosnia at the mouth of the river Pliva in Vrbas.
Buildings like the Jajce fortress, the Bear tower, and the Catacombs are just some of the evidence of the rugged past of this city.
On the other hand, in the center of the city, the river Pliva, crashing through sedge deposits, forms one of the most beautiful, unique waterfalls you'll ever see.
Nature and history are interwoven in this city and allow you to admire one and the other, not moving too far from the city center.

The construction of the original Avala Tower lasted for 4 years and was completed in 1965. At that time it was one of the most beautiful towers in Europe.
However, in 1999 tower was demolished in the bombing, and the new one in its place, as a replica of the old one, was created in April of 2010 and reached a height of 204.68 meters.
The Observation Platform placed on the 122nd meter of Avala Tower provides you with one of the most spectacular views of Belgrade and its surroundings.

This city on the Meuse River is in an incredibly picturesque spot, squeezed between the water and the high valley walls.
Dinant provides a stunning spectacle, especially when you look across the Meuse and lift your gaze towards the Citadelle and the onion-domed tower of the Collegiate Church.

This small rocky island in Lake Maggiore is completely occupied by the Borromeo villa and its garden extravaganza. Soil was shipped in. Like a flower-strewn barge, the island now drifts amongst the snow-capped mountains of the lake. Local legend relates that the ladies of Borromeo's household asked the Count to build on the island so that they would not have to listen to prisoners screaming in the dungeons of his mainland castle.

In the north of Holland, near the German border, lies the fortress Bourtange. This perfectly restored small fortress town east of the city of Groningen dates back to 1580. Bourtange is built up in a star shape which was typical for these fortress towns.

The abbey on Monte Cassino was originally founded by Saint Benedict in 529, making it one of Europe's oldest monasteries.
Perched on the mountaintop above the town of Cassino, it served as the scene of a huge, decisive battle near the end of World War II, during which the abbey was almost completely destroyed, but it was rebuilt after the war.
