Museum night, or night of museums!

Once a year, at the end of January, Croatian museums open their doors on Friday evening to all visitors. It's great opportunity to see numerous exibitions, buy all kind of books and brochures and meet old friends. 🥰
I usually visite museums in Zagreb, but this year I'm spending time in January in Split, therefor I went for a long walk through Split! Museum after museum! Warm winter, warm hearts and beautiful museums! ❤️
Manifestation starts at 6 pm and finish at 1 am! You are all welcome next year! 🤩

Sometimes I forget that I am blessed with the posibilities to enjoy a simple espresso in the bottom of a medieval fortress, since Zagreb has city walls from the 13th century! ☕️🥂🍺 🥰❤️

Come and join me! 🥰 Each of my Private tours includes a coffe/beer break. If you are history and archaeology lover, like me, you would appreciate to sit in a bar two hundred years old! 🏛

Interpretative tour in Kaštela with dear collegue, Nataša, including famous local love story from 17th century about Miljenko and Dobrila!👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨

Visit to Vitturi and Rušinac Castel, both from the end of 15th century in Kaštel Lukšić, one of seven beautiful Dalmatian pearls spreading in a line from ancient Salona till Greek and Roman city of Trogir. 🏛
Kaštela where also inhabited in Roman times, there are numerous Villa's rusticas and underwater excavation points containg shipwrecks!

The tour was an annual present of Croatian Tourist Guides Associatian, since the January 15 is a International Recognition Day of Republic of Croatia. Every year Licensed Tour Guides around the Republic of Croatia conduct free tours for citizens of Croatia as a part of a program :"Get to know your country!" 💪🇭🇷

Another archaeological "What are you digging there?" (Šta vi tamo kopate?) lecture in the Old Town Hall in Split organized by the Archaeological Museum in Split in co-production with MHAS, the City Museum of Split and the Croatian Archaeological Society. 🥰
Andrija Nakić, an archaeologist from the Šibenik Fortress of Culture (Tvrđava kulture Šibenik), explained the importance of the Šibenik site Grebaštica through historical and archaeological periods. 🏛
The interesting site of Sveti Ivan del Tyroi opened some new thoughts about the importance of Šibenik and the Adriatic coast in late antiquity. Excellent lecture, excellent organization and a great opportunity to make new friends. Thanks to Jelena Jovanović for making this project vivid. 💪

Split! ❤️
If you weren't born in Split or elsewhere in Dalmatia, it's hard to understand strong conection with rock in any form. Streets are covered with it, buildings stand proudly made out of stone cubes, but my heart is melting when I see raw, natural stone still standing in the middle of a city hosting Mediterreanean plants kapari.

Beatiful Split, second largest city in the Republic of Croatia!
It's November and we're still going to the beach. Yea, the sea water is a little bit chilly, but swiming and catching a sun is so refresing and regenerating!

Come and visit Split, enjoy our "Split state of mind", eat local delicacies or take a long, long walk on one of many Split's beaches or Marjan mountain! Split is an open, colourful gem! Last, but not least, Split is ful of archaeological remains at every corner! You are welcome to enjoy!

Let's go to pick some olives! 💯❤️

A weekend filled with hard work, good company and pleasure!
The traditional olive harvest (harvest) usually takes place at the end of October! It's not an easy job, but you have to remember the process in the old days. It used to be a much longer process, guaranteed hard work, including days of picking and hand crushing and pressing the olives.
Happy to be born in a region where olive oil has been produced since prehistoric times, through the Roman and Middle Ages!

It was a long time ago I've been excavating at some archaeological site, but once an archaeologist, always an archaeologist! 🤩
What a joy! 🥰❤️Happy to be a member of an archaeological crew at the exavations in Stobreč, currently one of the largest archaeological excavation field in Croatia, run by Marina Ugarkovic from the Institute of Archaeology in Zagreb. 💪🇭🇷
Our days are fullfilled with hard work, shovels, pickaxes, wheelbarrows and bucketts fill with earth, mud, dirth, stone, bones and huge quantities of ceramics from Hellenistic and early Roman period, late antiquity as well. 🦴🦷🏋‍♂️🐑🐐🐂🐇🐚
But nothing compares to the impressive walls of the Hellenistic period.🧱🏛 It is an honour to be here in greek Epetium, or roman Epetion, one of first greek settlements on the eastern cost of the Adriatic.
