BURA is one of the most common types of winds blowing in Croatia, especially in Dalmatia. It’s the kind of wind that will definitely keep fishermen at home, while locals dash for cover - especially to their favorite cafés! When bura is blowing strong, there’s not much you can do. All you can do is wait for it to calm down.

But don’t worry too much! The bura brings sunshine, and if it’s not too fierce, it’s perfect for a stroll outside - just make sure you have a thick jacket on hand!

P.S. If you ever find yourself in Dalmatia during bura, watch out - you might get blown away! Old Dalmatian locals often joke about putting stones in their pockets to keep from being swept off their feet by the wind!
