The final panel session at the Halal Business Forum was titled "Innovations in Halal Products" and was skillfully moderated by Dr. Ajla Čustović. The panel featured distinguished speakers, all renowned professionals in the halal industry and education sector. Among them were Mr. Amir Sakic and Dr. Ema Obralic from Bosnia & Herzegovina, Ms. Laura Bianchini from the UK, Mr. Ivan Šimić from Croatia, and Dr. A J Mohamed Jinna from Singapore.

During the discussion, the speakers unanimously emphasized that innovation in halal products is driven by market demand. They articulated a common understanding that any product or service pursuing halal certification must inherently undergo specific adaptations. Moreover, it was highlighted that companies should recognize the value of obtaining a halal certificate, as it confers an additional layer of credibility and desirability to their products.

A pivotal question raised during the session was about the limits of innovation within the realm of halal products. In response, it was noted that standards play a crucial role in regulating this domain. The Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) was spotlighted as an exemplary organization dedicated to monitoring market innovations and diligently pursuing standardization efforts. Impressively, SMIIC has already established 42 standards covering various aspects of the product and service sectors, with an additional 38 standards currently in the process of development.

The halal industry is an inclusive one, open to individuals of all backgrounds, regardless of their religious affiliation. All are encouraged to participate and benefit from the opportunities within the halal sector, fostering an environment of welcome and collaboration.
