Lespwa fe viv! Keeping hope alive in Petite Riviere in Leogane. The guest house has been closed for many months and will reopen with 13 rooms each with its own private bath along with a 15 feet by 30 feet swimming pool to sweat off Haiti's heat. If you have visited us in the past, you will witness the remarkable transformation. Stay tune for our grand opening in November 2016. We will resume the Haitian Creole and Cultural immersion program, launch Vandredi Rasin where you can enjoy Haiti's roots music and dance presentations and Samedi Troubadour.

Venez decouvrir le rara de Leogane. Kiskeya Guest House est situee a quelque minute de la base de Sans Racune, le fameux groupe rara de Petite Riviere de Leogane. Vous pouvez vous amuser chaque lundi et jeudi apres midi en toute repos avec votre famille ou vos amis. Venez vous reposer après a Kiskeya Guest House.

Rara is a form of festival music that originated in Haïti, that is used for street processions, typically during Easter Week. The music centers on a set of cylindrical bamboo trumpets called vaksen (which may also be made of metal pipes), but also features drums, maracas, güiras or güiros (a percussion instrument), and metal bells, as well as sometimes also cylindrical metal trumpets which are made from recycled metal, often coffee cans. The vaksen-s perform repeating patterns in hocket and often strike their instruments rhythmically with a stick while blowing into them. In the modern day, standard trumpets and saxophones may also be used. The genre though predominantly Afro-based has some Taino Amerindian elements to it such as the use of güiros and maracas.

The songs are always performed in Haitian Kreyòl and typically celebrate the African ancestry of the Afro-Haïtian masses.

We have launched Communaute Kiskeya, a community supported rural tourism initiative for sustainable development in Haiti. A prepaid membership of $500 per year will allow you to stay with us at Kiskeya Guest House in Leogane, Haiti for 10 days per year with 2meals daily with round trip Toussaint Louverture airport transportation to Leogane.

This week, we welcome our first enrolled member Dr. Ferdinand. As a physician, he was happy to come to Leogane and spent 1 1/2 volunteering at the Rasin Foundation medical clinic located on the farm. He visited the surrounding community and appreciated the serenity. He spent an evening listening and dancing to Sans Rancune rara band practice at their headquarters. He drank plenty of coconut water and enjoyed some great food and the wonderful company at Kiskeya Ferme and Guest House. He professed to have received the best royal treatment of his life at the guest house.
