Budapest’s Grand Central Market – A Must-See, But Beware the Food Trap!

The Central Market Hall at Fővám Square is one of Budapest’s most iconic spots, and it’s definitely worth a visit! However, we don’t recommend eating at the overpriced food stalls on the upper gallery. The so-called "Hungarian" dishes there are more for tourists than for locals—expensive and far from authentic. Instead, explore the market itself for fresh produce, local delicacies, and real Hungarian flavors!

Visiting Budapest? Don’t miss the MOL Tower, the city’s tallest! landmark by the Kopaszi-gát, right on the Danube.
Some say it looks like an asthma inhaler (shoutout to the cool Hungarian designer who made the comparison ), while others call it Budapest’s biggest public... well, you decide! Either way, it’s a sight to see—especially when it lights up at night!

The "József Attila" statue is located along the Danube River, just south of the Parliament. It’s a peaceful spot, especially in February when Budapest is pretty quiet. Just be careful when you sit on the stone bench, it can get cold!

This is tram 49 in Budapest! On the right side of the photo, you’ll see an old red ticket validating machine. It doesn’t stamp the date but punches the ticket at three points. These machines can sometimes get blocked by chewing gum or paper. If your ticket won’t validate, try another red machine in the same tram car. If all machines are blocked and you can’t validate your ticket, you cannot be fined. If needed, ask the ticket inspector to validate their test ticket to confirm the issue.
Also, remember you have to pull really hard on these old iron ticket validators until you hear the punch noise😑

Check out the Tom Lantos statue on the Pest side of the Danube, between Margaret Bridge and Árpád Bridge! Born in Hungary on February 1, 1928, he was the only Holocaust survivor to serve in the U.S. Congress and founded the Congressional Human Rights Caucus. A true dog lover—his two dogs are even part of the statue. Right now, you’ll find fresh flowers there in his memory.

Good morning from Budapest!
A stunning drone view of Óbuda part of the city! You can see Margaret Island, a beautiful green getaway, and Hajógyári Island, home of the famous Sziget Festival. Óbuda (Old Buda) is the lesser-known part of Budapest, rich in history and charm.
