Explanation: The Moon's south pole is toward the top left of this detailed telescopic moonscape. Captured on August 23, it looks across the rugged southern lunar highlands. The view's foreshortened perspective heightens the impression of a dense field of craters and makes the craters themselves appear more oval shaped close to the lunar limb. Prominent near center is 114 kilometer diameter crater Moretus. Moretus is young for a large lunar crater and features terraced inner walls and a 2.1 kilometer high, central peak, similar in appearance to the more northerly young crater Tycho. Mountains visible along the lunar limb at the top can rise about 6 kilometers or so above the surrounding terrain. Close to the lunar south pole, permanently shadowed crater floors with expected reservoirs of water-ice have made the rugged south polar region of the Moon a popular target for exploration.

Ez az esemény a két nagyból az egyik (a másik az Astronomy Photographer of the Year - de az szeptemberben van, Angliában). ÚJ ASZTROFOTÓ: A TEKERGŐ SÁRKÁNY (NGC 6979)

Elnézést a grafikus játékért, a címért, tudom, nem mindenki szereti a csillagászok között. De én is utólag vettem észre a sárkány formát, annyira jól adta magát, hogy most kivételesen... :) Szóval ez egy apró része (ANT nagytávcső látómező) és kifejezetten halvány, nem fotózott szakasza az amúgy tényleg népszerű Fátyol-komplexumnak. A középső régió, ami jóval halványabb, mint a többi. Érdemes megnézni a fenti linken nagyban, illetve a rövid cikkem is elolvasni mellé.

MOUNT: FORNAX 51 💪💪💪

This squid-shaped turquoise nebula was discovered by a French amateur astronomer Nicolas Outters in 2011. It sits in the center of a much larger Hydrogen cloud catalogued as Sh-129. This squid is a very large and very faint nebulosity, needs very long exposure time and a special narrowband filter to capture. With over 92 hours, this is far the longest total exposure time I have ever taken for a single object. I captured the squid using my 300 mm telescope through an OIII filter with over 60 hours of exposures. Then I used my smaller 200mm scope to get a wider field to image the red Hydrogen cloud (through Ha filter) and stars (LRGB filters) with 32 hours of integration time.

Az IC 410 jelű csillagkeletkezesi régió anyagát a központjában elhelyezkedő fiatal csillagok buborékként fújják fel, s ennek hatására alakulnak ki ezek a látványos ívek, formák. A két, ebihalra emlékeztető képződmény jóval sűrűbb a környezeténél, így ezeket a csillagsz....

"I brought a LighTrack with me and it did a great job! I was able to polar align it the night before, mark the position of the tripod legs, and bring it back outside for the eclipse. It tracked almost the full 3 hour duration of the eclipse without issue, only needing to be reset to the starting position a few times and with only one or two minor position adjustments. ... as well as a photo of the mount, complete with some plastic bags full of bricks that I used to provide my lightweight travel tripod with some stability."

ÚJ ASZTROFOTÓ: JETEK AZ M106 GALAXISBAN

Az M106 galaxis önmagában is roppant érdekesen színes csillagváros, már publikáltam róla fotót néhány évvel ezelőtt. Ugyanakkor a vöröses jeteket korábban nem sikerült megörökítenem. Ezt az elmaradásom pótoltam ezzel a friss tavaszi képpel. Ezekről bővebben írok a linken, illetve a teljes méretű kép is ott nézhető meg (a facebook leméretezi). A kép az Optolong Optolong L-Quad Enhance szűrőjével készült, ami miatt a balatoni ég mellől is sikerült mélységet adni az űrnek (nézzétek a sok kis háttérgalaxist).

ÚJ ASZTROFOTÓ: a 3628-as napfolt

Érdekes helyzet, 2010 óta asztrofotózom, de soha egyetlen napfoltot nem örökítettem meg, eddig valahogy nem foglalkoztatott. Pedig milyen látványos, főleg ilyen mono verzióban. Valójában napfolt szinten egyáltalán nem számít kiemelten nagynak, de mellé rakva a Föld és a Hold méretarányos gömb alakjait, azért látható, milyen döbbenetes méretekről beszélünk… Egyébként napfoltokat már az első távcsöves csillagászati megfigyelések évében, 1610-ben is látott a Napon Galilei is, így már sok évszázada követi őket az emberiség. Két részre bonthatók: a belső, sötétebb rész az umbra, a külső, félsötét, sugaras szerkezetű rész a penumbra. A napfoltban a hőmérséklet közel 2000 °C-kal alacsonyabb a napfolton kívüli, nyugodt napfelszín 5700 K-es hőmérsékleténél, ezért a foltból érkező hőmérsékleti sugárzás intenzitása csupán negyede a nyugodt napfelszínének.
