Many described Indonesia is a wonder of wonders. An archipelago state of more than 17,000 islands, located between Asia and Australia, puzzle along the equator line. It is incredibly unique and diverse. Inhabited by more than 300 ethnic groups, 1340 tribes, speaks more than 115 languages despite having Bahasa Indonesia as the national language. With the population around 250 million consisting of 34 provinces, making Indonesia the fourth largest populated country in the world after China - India and the United States.

Dubbed as a country with the most volcanoes in the world, it is the home of 129 volcanic mountains, 20 of them are active. These volcanic mountains are part of the Pacific Ring of Fire. Some of the most famous ones are the highlights of this motorcycle journey like Gunung Batur in Bali (gunung is the word for mountain), Gunung Ijen, Raung, Bromo and Semeru in East Java, Gunung Merapi in Central Java, Gunung Rinjani in Lombok, Gunung Tambora in Sumbawa and a lot more. Two of these famous volcanic mountains have brought a big impact to the world when they erupted, namely Tambora in 1815 and Krakatau in 1883
