There are many different beaches and surfing spots for all levels in Lombok. We can help to arrange surf lessons or a surf guide during your stay.

SEGAR BEACH (10 MINUTE DRIVE)
Best for experienced surfers and those that enjoy watching the surf.

For surfers, the right hand break caters more for intermediate / advanced surfers. The left hander is more mellow. The wave is best in wet season.

For the non-surfers, there’s plenty of beanbag chill out spots. It’s a nice place for sunset. Swimming is possible when the swell is small – take care on bigger days.

TANJUNG AAN (15 MINUTE DRIVE)
Best for swimming and relaxing.

Beautiful horseshoe shaped bay perfect for little ones. Easy to spend the whole day here with lots of local cafes, sunloungers and shaded spots. There is a hillside you can walk up for great sunset views.

For surfing at Tanjung Aan, on smaller days it’s perfect for beginners and longboards. When it gets big, it gets pretty heavy so check conditions. Best at a mid tide. Sharp reef so not suitable for surfing at low tide.

MAWUN BEACH (15 MINUTE DRIVE)
Best for swimming and relaxing.

A beautiful bay perfect for swimming or walking. There isn’t much shade here so perfect for the sun worshippers

SELONG BELANAK (25 MINUTE DRIVE)
Best for swimming, relaxing and taking your first wave.

A beautiful bay for swimming and chilling, or for taking your first wave. There are warung style restaurants on the beach. It’s possible to hire soft top boards there or get a surf lesson.

GERUPUK BAY (20 MINUTE DRIVE)
Surfing bay perfect for all levels

5 surf spots located within the bay, about a 20 minute drive from Kuta. Caters for all levels, depending on the conditions. Surf spots are accessed via boat. We can help you to arrange a boat captain / surf guide in advance.

ARE GULING (15 MINUTE DRIVE)
Surf spot for experienced surfers.

Caters more for intermediate / advanced surfers. 15 minute drive along Jalan Mawun. Best in wet season. There are a couple of small warungs (hut-style restaurants) serving coconuts and nasi goreng for some post surf fuel.

MAWI (25 MINUTE DRIVE)
Surf spot for experienced surfers.

Caters more for intermediate / advanced surfers as there can be strong rips. 25 minute drive along Jalan Mawun, last part of the drive is bumpy. Best in dry season.

It’s a beautiful bay to visit but there can be strong rips, so we wouldn’t recommend swimming here unless you stay close to the shore. Coconuts and fried rice available on the beach.

EKAS (30 MINUTE DRIVE THEN 40 MINUTE BOAT)
Surfing day trip.

There are two breaks at Ekas. Insides Ekas, a fun longboard style left and right hander. Needs a lot of swell to work. And Outside Ekas, a heavier more challenging left hander wave for more advanced surfers. Best at mid – high tide.

Lombok has a little bit of everything including:
Stunning white sandy beaches, great for swimming and relaxing (Selong Belanak and Tanjung Aan are our favourites.)
Beautiful rice terraces and traditional villages. Our favourite village trips are to Tetebatu (for rice terraces) and Banyumulek (for pottery.)
Waterfalls, mountains, hiking, monkey forests and camping.
Adventure sports including; snorkelling, scuba diving, SUP boarding, jet skiing, mountain biking, rafting and paragliding.

Macaronis, more commonly referred to as Macas, is a mechanical left-hander that has been described by many as being the most high performance wave in existence. In glassy or off-shore conditions 4 – 6 second barrels are manageable from the take off, while the inside section is a bit like a skaters half-pipe where you can do countless numbers of Rio’s, tail-slides, floaters, airs, and cut-backs.

Macas is such a fun wave to surf even in onshore conditions, and is one of the few reef breaks in the world that continues to break well in all tides. Macas holds from 2 – 8 feet and technically doesn’t get any bigger than this; it just becomes more hollow and round.

The greatest thing about Macas is its consistency, and that it breaks slightly different at each stage of the tide with varying west – south swell directions. Generally a south west ground swell will cause Macaronis to break most mechanically, lining up all the way down the reef. Macas is surfable all day long in a variety of on-shore and off-shore conditions, in fact some actually prefer Macas to have a slightly on-shore SW breeze on it, as it makes the wave so damn fun and rippable.

Desert Point is hands-down one of the world's best waves, and also one of the world's most fickle, demanding a giant groundswell before it even thinks about breaking and producing those ultra-long, mesmerizing lefthand barrels. Many feel that Deserts is better than G-Land, and better than any left in the Mentawai Islands. The wave is severely tide-sensitive -- during a big swell at high tide it can be dead flat, and on the next low tide it can be double-overhead and absolutely shacking over shallow and razor-sharp coral reef.

MORE DIRECT FLIGHTS FROM SINGAPORE – LOMBOK

Scoot Airlines will increase their direct services between Singapore and Lombok to 4 times weekly from the 1st of May 2023.

These flights not only offer a convenient link for those based in Singapore, but also allow those coming from further afield the ability to connect directly to Lombok from all parts of the globe via Singapore Airlines vast network. Being able to check your luggage all the way through to your destination from London, Hong Kong or Tokyo makes travel all that much smoother.

The flights will also provide a welcome boost to capacity ahead of the peak tourism months from June-September. With some hotels and villas full over the lower season it would be wise to lock in your accommodation soon if you are looking to visit during peak months.

Air Goling in South Lombok is a fairly exposed reef break that has consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. Offshore winds blow from the north. Clean groundswells prevail and the best swell direction is from the south southwest. A reef breaks right. Relatively few surfers here, even on good days. Submerged rocks are a hazard.

The best conditions reported for surf at Air Goling occur when a South-southwest swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the North.
