We were honored to welcome Dr. Douglas Fenner, coral reef expert and passionate educator, who traveled all the way to Indonesia to lead our Coral Identification Workshop in Ambon as part of the COSMARINDO program — a collaboration between Ruhr University Bochum (.rub), UNSEEN (), University of the Ryukyus (), and Luminocean.

His wealth of knowledge and energy inspired students to see coral reefs not just as beautiful ecosystems, but as critical life-support systems worth protecting.

Our team had the privilege of leading coral ID training across 6 universities in Indonesia — and this moment at Hasanuddin University Makassar was one to remember! With Dr. Douglas Fenner as guest speaker, students dove into coral science and ocean conservation with enthusiasm and curiosity.

These workshops are part of our COSMARINDO program — a collaboration between Ruhr University Bochum (.rub), UNSEEN (), University of the Ryukyus (), and Luminocean — made possible through the generous support of , empowering future ocean guardians across the nation. 💙

These incredible marine animals can regrow lost arms, move using hundreds of tiny tube feet, and have a jaw-dropping way of eating — they actually push their stomachs out of their bodies to digest prey like clams and mussels externally. 😮
