There are five individually designed chalets set in the thoughtfully landscaped gardens abundant with a variety of exotic plants. The larger, two-storey chalet can accommodate up to 8 people in 3 bedrooms with twin or double beds. A small kitchen, to prepare your own meals and a rustic dining area complete this chalet thus making it ideal for families or friends. Naturally, all the vegetables and fruits served at Ashram Landih are organically grown in the surrounding fields which you are invited to explore as well. To give you a taste of the real Balinese cuisine, a variety of delicious, traditional, home-cooked vegetarian meals can be enjoyed in the familiar atmosphere of the dining room. On the vast premises there are dormitories with common sanitary facilities making Ashram Landih ideal for hiking clubs, scouts and similar outdoor organizations. Walking along solitary paths, you will encounter original Balinese farmers in their homesteads following their ancient daily routines – it feels as if the wheel of time has come to a halt. Although seemingly remote, Ashram Landih is the ideal starting point for various excursions:
Besakih, the Mother Temple of Bali, at the foot of Mt. Agung can be reached within 30 minutes drive from Ashram Landih. A 10-minute drive takes you to the foot of Gunung (Mount) Abang where you begin a three-hour hike to the top of the volcano. Tackling Gunung Batur proves a bit more of a challenge as you start your climb at around four o’clock in the morning, clambering over lava-rock strewn fields; at around six o’clock the sun rises over Lake Batur, dipping the lake and its surroundings into an almost unreal display of colours. Steaming crevices remind you that Gunung Batur is still active and once you have descended, you are taken to the hot springs of Toya Bungkah to relax in the hot water basins fed by the volcano. All climbs are accompanied by certified local mountain guides.
