We stayed at Rumah Besar on our last leg of a multi-week 40th birthday celebration, and it did not disappoint! Marlene is an amazing host. Super prompt communication with lots of recommendations. She suggested a custom birthday cake place that blew us away and made our birthday gal super happy. Marlene also connected us with a private chef who dazzled us with a multi course set one night that ranked as one of the top authentic culinary experiences we had on the island. Marlene also helped us hired a bartender to fix us up fantastic drinks with our meal. The location is perfect. Lots of incredible restaurants, stores, cafes, pharmacies, tattoo shops, and fun beach access within a 30-40 minute walk or 10-30 min scooter ride. ATMs and a 24hr minimart were literally 2 minute walk away. Highly recommend downloading the Gojek app (local version of Uber/Lyft) to hire scooter cabs to get around quickly and inexpensively. The accommodations were lovely, with A/C keeping each room at a comfortable temperature. The pool and accompanying day bed made for a lovely dip at the days end. We really enjoyed the giant dining room and kitchen set up with the speaker system. The local manager Ari, security guard Dewa, and the staff chefs and laundry maids Komang and Iluh were incredibly nice and super helpful, our included breakfasts were tasty and Ari went out of his way many times to help us coordinate day trips and transport. All in all, a fantastic stay and would visit again in a heartbeat.
