Taman Negara is a national park located in the central part of Peninsular Malaysia. Covering approximately 4,343 square kilometers, it boasts one of the world’s oldest rainforests, estimated to be over 130 million years old. Within its boundaries lies Mount Tahan, the highest peak in Peninsular Malaysia. The park is home to diverse wildlife, including endangered species like the Malayan tiger and Asian elephant.
And ALL tourists visit this NP via Kuala Tahan and therefore it's so crowded. We at Happy Trails Asia are always looking for alternative ways to visit Highlights in a country!
And we have found another entrance to Taman Negara to avoid the crowds; It's the entrance at Merapo!
When our MD and founder, Gerald van Amerongen en our Product Manager Malaysia, Sandro Nania visited this part of Taman Negara, they have seen NO tourist at all!
So contact as if you want to avoid the crowds and support the local community at Merapo!
