The ceremony called "Ngiring Sesuhunan Dewa Ayu Jimbaran mepasupati ke Pura Dalem Uluwatu" is a unique ritual that has preserved ancient traditions. Organized by the traditional village of Jimbaran, it includes a pilgrimage to Pura Luhur Uluwatu.
One of the central aspects of the ceremony is the "penangkilan" or "pamasupati" ritual, during which participants walk approximately 15 kilometers to the temple.
The "pamasupati" ritual is a purification process that is believed to bless sacred objects, weapons, and statues, imbuing them with spiritual power. It plays a crucial role in maintaining the spiritual strength and protection of the village.
The route to Pura Luhur Uluwatu is considered highly sacred, passing through key religious and cultural sites along the way. Around 25,000 people take part in this procession, which stretches nearly 3 kilometers long.
It’s a deeply community-centered event, and the planning and preparations start long before the actual day. Offerings are crafted meticulously, and the village comes together to ensure that every element of the ritual is performed according to ancestral customs.
The ceremony is held every two years, with the last one taking place on January 22, 2023. The next event is scheduled for 2025.

The area of north-eastern Bali at the Mount Batur caldera, encompassing the villages of Penelokan, Toya Bungkah, Batur, and Kintamani, is widely known simply as Kintamani. The villages of Kintamani, Batur, and Penelokan sit on the rim of the huge Batur caldera, about 1,500 meters above sea level, and offer dramatic views of the active volcano Mount Batur and the serene Lake Batur.

It is typically held when a child reaches puberty, generally around the age of 12 for girls and 15 for boys. During the Bayuh Otonan ceremony, the child is given a new name and is considered to have reached a new level of maturity. Family members and friends gather to celebrate the occasion, and offerings are made to the gods to seek blessings for the child’s future. The ceremony involves traditional rituals with sometimes even fire like on this reel with Balinese music, dance and food, and may also include prayers and rituals led by a Hindu priest.

Praying above the clouds...honoring the significance of Mount Agung, Bali's Sacred Volcano 🙏
According to Balinese myths, Mount Agung originates from a fragment of the sacred Mountain Meru, symbolizing the nexus between the celestial and earthly realms. It was believed that Java, Bali, and Lombok each received a shard of the mountain to spiritually stabilize them.
Mount Agung holds significance as the cosmic axis for several reasons in Balinese culture. It is believed to be the abode of gods, with Mahadewa, the supreme form of Lord Shiva, residing within its peaks.
Furthermore, Balinese tradition dictates that the purity of water is highest at its source in the north and diminishes as it flows southward towards the sea, reflecting the spiritual journey from order to chaos. Hence, all aspects of Balinese life, including architecture, temples, rituals, and even the direction in which their heads should be point while sleeping, are aligned along the kaja-kelod axis, symbolizing this cosmic balance✨

Melasti Ceremonies in Bali 🙏
Melasti is an important cultural celebration in Bali that takes place several days before Nyepi, the Balinese New Year. Melasti is also known as Melis, which means "to purify or to cleanse," and the main purpose of this celebration is to purify and cleanse the physical and spiritual worlds in preparation for Nyepi.
On Melasti Day, Balinese Hindus gather at the beach or other sacred water sources to perform a purification ceremony✨
The Melasti procession is an incredible spectacle. The sounds of traditional instruments, the scent of incense, and the aromas of flowers fill the air. Women adorned in traditional Balinese attire, adorned with bright colors and golden patterns, carry baskets on their heads filled with flowers and fruits.
When the procession reaches the shore, the Melasti ritual itself begins. The statues are literally immersed in water, and it is believed that all evil forces and negative energies are left in the sea. The ocean water, taking upon itself all that is bad, becomes a symbol of purification and rebirth. People at this time recite prayers, asking the gods for blessings for the new year.
After the completion of the Melasti ritual, the procession participants return to the temples and homes to continue their prayers and rituals🙌

In 2024, the Balinese New Year - Nyepi will be celebrated on March 11✨
Nyepi is a day of self-reflection, fasting, and meditation for the Balinese people. On this day, they observe complete silence, turn off all lights and electronic devices, and refrain from any activity that could disturb the peace🙌
On the eve of the day of silence, according to tradition, a Ngrupuk parade with Ogoh-Ogoh puppets is held👹
The Ogoh-Ogoh puppet for the parade is made from bamboo, paper, and cloth and can reach heights of up to 4 meters. The puppet is usually crafted in the form of a grotesque monster or demon, which is meant to represent the negative aspects of human behavior. This is truly an impressive sight! The intricacy, lifelike quality, and sheer scale of this are truly awe-inspiring🔥
Traditional parades will take place in the territories of local villages on March 10. From March 1 to 3, the Kesang Festival 2024 will be held in Denpasar at Patung Katur Muka Square. It will feature 160 statues, with the 12 best works from each district of the city selected by the Denpasar Department of Culture👌
