Last weekend, we had the privilege of diving deep into Balinese culture at the Samsara Living Museum ( ) thanks to a familiarization trip with . From ancient rituals to traditional crafts, every moment was a beautiful reminder of Bali’s rich heritage and the importance of preserving it. Grateful for this immersive experience and for the opportunity to learn firsthand about the traditions that make Bali so unique. 🌺✨

Surrounded by lush jungle and distant volcanoes, the 9th century temple of Borobudur offers a mystical atmosphere. The silence, ancient stones, and sheer scale create a profound sense of serenity and timelessness, making Borobudur not just a tourist destination but also a deeply spiritual place for reflection and reverence.

Borobudur is a massive, terraced structure shaped like a mandala when viewed from above. It consists of nine stacked platforms—six square and three circular—capped by a central dome. The temple is adorned with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues, each representing different stages of enlightenment. Pilgrims and visitors ascend through three symbolic levels—Kamadhatu (the world of desires), Rupadhatu (the world of forms), and Arupadhatu (the formless world)—reflecting the journey toward Nirvana. At the top of the temple is the large central stupa, surrounded by smaller stupas, each containing a statue of Buddha.

Prambanan Temple is the largest Hindu temple in Southeast Asia. Built in the 9th century, it is dedicated to the Trimurti—Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. The temple is famous for its 47-meter central tower and intricate carvings depicting Hindu epics like the Ramayana. Abandoned around the 10th century and damaged by earthquakes, it underwent restoration in the 20th century. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Prambanan is celebrated for its cultural significance and the magical Ramayana ballet performances held there.

Since last August, we have committed to planting 100 mangrove seeds each month. It seems small, but real action and consistency are essential to sustainability. As this month marks our 1000th mangrove seed, we'd like to remind you again how important mangroves are to us.

Like other plants, mangroves play a crucial part in the ecosystem. Mangrove planting is not just an activity; it's a mission to restore and conserve coastal ecosystems. Mangroves serve as natural barriers against storm surges, stabilize shorelines, and provide habitat and nursery grounds for numerous marine species.

Kusamba Beach is one of East Bali's many tranquil and exotic black-sand beaches. There, you’ll find the salt farmers repetitively fetching seawater in palm leaf buckets on carrying poles, then splashing them out onto the smoothened black sand under the scorching sun. The harvesting and production of the sea salt is a centuries-old tradition where local farmers use traditional techniques to produce 100% natural salt by sun and wind evaporation.

The number of production of sea salt is depending on the sunlight. They are able to produce up to 10 kilograms per day during the dry season in April to October.

Galungan and Kuningan are celebrated every 210 days. Galungan Day marks the time when the ancestral spirits visit the Earth, the day of victory "Dharma—good spirits against Adharma—evil spirits. And exactly 10 days after Galungan is when Kuningan Day is celebrated, this marks the time when ancestral spirits leave the earth.

On Kuningan Day, Hindu-Bali ceremonially pray for blessings, safety, and protection from the gods and also send offerings to their ancestors.
