What is Luwak coffee ??

The origin of civet coffee is motivated by the history of coffee cultivation in Indonesia. In the early 18th century, the Dutch established commercial plantations in their colonies in the Dutch East Indies, especially on the islands of Java and Sumatra. One of them is Arabica coffee plantations with seeds imported from Yemen. In the era of "Forced Cultivation" or Cultuurstelsel 1830 -1870. The dutch prohibited indigenous plantation workers from picking coffee cherries for personal consumption, but the locals wanted to try the famous coffee drink. Then the plantation workers finally found that there was a kind of civet who liked to eat coffee cherries, but only the flesh of the fruit was digested, the epidermis and coffee beans were still intact and undigested. The coffee beans in the civet droppings are then picked up, washed, roasted, ground, then brewed with hot water, creating civet coffee. Due to its rarity and unusual manufacturing process, Kopi Luwak has also been an expensive coffee since colonial times. A civet weasel Luwak, or the full civet civet, loves to find fruits that are quite good and ripe, including coffee cherries as food. With a sensitive sense of smell, the civet will choose coffee cherries that are really ripe as food, and after that, the coffee beans that are still protected by a hard and undigested skin will come out with the civet droppings. This happens because the civet has a simple digestive system, so hard foods like coffee beans are not digested. Luwak coffee beans like this, in the past until now are often hunted by coffee farmers, because they are believed to come from the best coffee beans and have been naturally fermented in the civet's digestive system. The aroma and taste of Kopi Luwak does feel special and perfect among coffee fans and connoisseurs around the world.kopiluwak

Mecaru is a ceremony carried out to maintain harmony between humans and nature by Hindus in Bali, Indonesia. The Mecaru ceremony is also called Butha Yadnya, Butha Yadnya essentially takes care of the five elements of nature, namely earth, water, air, fire, and ether. The mecaru ceremony is held before the Nyepi day at Sasih Kesanga time. Mecaru ceremony is usually held at crossroads and in the home environment. Every time holding this ceremony, each family makes caru or offerings according to economic capacity. The offering is a purification of Bhuta Kala and all existing impurities, as well as a hope that all evil will not be experienced again in the future. The offerings in the mecaru ceremony are usually in the form of five-colored rice, side dishes of chicken, herbs, and accompanied by palm wine. The mecaru ceremony aims to instill noble and spiritual values โ€‹โ€‹into humans so that they always maintain and care for nature and the surrounding environment. Balinese people believe that if humans destroy nature and the environment, then one day humans will be destroyed by nature.

"Penjor" what is the meaning??

Welcoming Galungan Day which falls on Buda Kliwon Wuku Dungulan, two days before the Galungan Day celebration, Hindus in Bali install "Penjor". One of the interesting things to know is the penjor in Bali, for local residents of course no stranger to the penjor, however, not everyone understands the function and meaning of why you have to install a penjor (menjor). Moreover, you are a tourist seeing a row of penjor on the roadside, almost adorning all the streets in Bali, it looks so lively, beautiful, beautiful, unique and interesting. And it is undeniable that the beauty of the penjor is the main attraction and is one of the unique cultures and traditions in Bali. The ceremonial penjor is made using a high curved bamboo pole about 10 meters high which is a picture of the highest mountain, which is decorated with various decorations of coconut leaves, accompanied by agricultural products, cakes, and white or yellow cloth, which are part of several elements that characterize the penjor. for the needs of Hindu religious ceremonies in Bali. Penjor is also said to be a symbol of a mountain, and the mountain itself is God's palace with various manifestations, for that every mountain in Bali is built a temple, whether it is on the peak or on the slopes. The function or meaning of the Galungan penjor in Hindu ceremonies and holidays in Bali is closely related to Galungan symbolizing the motherland of Bhuwana Agung and the mountain symbol that provides prosperity and safety. The symbol of the motherland is described as the form of the dragons Basuki and Ananta Boga. So Penjor in Bali functions as a means of ritual equipment that has a sacred value and in its manufacture one must pay attention to the elements or tools used to complete the penjor.
Penjor itself is made using tools or elements from the universe, such as bamboo stalks, types of leaves (plawa) such as coconut leaves, cypress, ferns aji and andong, for fruits and tubers which are classified as nutmeg bungkah (tubers). such as cassava tubers, hanging nutmeg such as coconut, banana, cucumber or guava and nutmeg wija (seeded fruit) such as corn and rice are also complemented by cakes, sugar cane and Uang Kepeng. All the produce of the earth or the results of the universe also give meaning as a sense of devotion and gratitude for all the prosperity that has been given by Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa to mankind. The penjor is installed in front, to the right of the entrance, the rebuttal or arch of the penjor leads to the road. If your house faces east, then the penjor is installed in the south. The front part of the penjor is mounted with a sanggah of about 1.5 meters high as a symbol of Ardha Candara, which is a sanggah whose lower part of the rectangular roof is curved in a semi-circle, shaped like a crescent moon, while at the end of the penjor (bamboo tip) a sampian penjor complete with flowers is attached. porosan, kwangen, sesari 11 Uang Kepeng.

Goa gajah temple one of popular tourist destination in Bali

Goa Gajah tourism object is located in Banjar Goa, Bedulu Village, Blahbatuh District, Gianyar Regency, approximately 5 km from Ubud. Goa Gajah tourism object is known from the reign of several kings, including: Sri Dharmawangsawardhana Marakatapangkajastano Tunggadewa (1022 AD), King Anak Wungsu (1053), Paduka Sri Mahaguru (1324). In the Negarakertagama book, which was written by Mpu Prapanca during the reign of King Hayam Wuruk in the Majapahit era, it states that Lwa Gajah is located in Bedulu Village as the residence of the Bodadyaksa. Also mentioned the term Kunjarakunjapada which means "dormitory kunjara" where Kunjara in Sanskrit means Elephant. This hostel is the hostel of Rsi Agastya located in Mysore in South India where at that time there were indeed many wild elephants living around the hostel. Thus Goa Gajah is likely to remind the Kunjara dormitory in India.

The beginning of the discovery of Goa Gajah originated from a report by a Dutch East Indies official, L.C. Heyting in 1923, who reported the findings of the Ganesha, Trilingga and Hariti areas to the Dutch East Indies government, then Dr.W.F. Sutterhiem in 1925 began conducting further research. In 1950 the Archaeological Service of the Republic of Indonesia through the sections of archaeological buildings in Bali led by J.L. Krijgman conducted research and excavations from 1954 to 1979 and found an ancient lightning site with six statues of women with chest showers. And until now its existence is believed to be able to provide a purifying aura vibration for visitors. In front of the cave there is a building that houses a statue of Ratu Brayut or Hariti. According to archaeologists, Hariti was an evil character at first, but after studying Buddhism his evil nature turned into a child-loving person, as shown in the statue. On the upper right wall of the cave there is an inscription of Kadiri Kwadrat which reads "Kumon" and "Shy Wangsa" which means that historians cannot know for sure. According to research by archaeologists, the art form of the area and the sanctuary in Goa Gajah is believed to be a legacy in the 11th century. (Source BP3 Bali) The Goa Gajah complex consists of 2 main parts, namely the northern part of the complex which is a legacy of Shiva's teachings with the Tri Linga and Ganesha statues in the cave. The complex south of Goa Gajah, the Tukad Pangkung area, was discovered by Mr. Concrat Spies in 1931, in the form of a thirteen-tiered Buddhist stupa and a three-pronged stupa carved in a large rock. The incomplete condition of the stupa was caused by a catastrophic natural disaster that occurred in Bali in 1917. Above Tukad Pangkung in the south there is the Pertapan Temple, here is a Buddhist area whose existence is estimated to have been around since the 9th century is one proof of the spread of Buddhism in Bali. The evidence of archaeological remains in the elephant cave that are Buddhist and Shivaist is a reflection of the tolerance of religious life in ancient times that we have inherited until now.

The Latest Beaches in Bali Competitors for Pandawa Beach

To add an alternative vacation spot to a white sand beach tourist attraction, which has beauty, excellence and uniqueness like the Pandawa beach in Bali. So access roads by splitting rock cliffs to hidden beaches in southern Bali, such as Melasti Ungasan beach, were made again. Melasti Beach in Ungasan, was once included in the category of one of the hidden beaches in the southern part of Bali. Because the location of the beach is behind a towering limestone hill. Before there was an asphalt road that splits the limestone hill as it is today, to get to the lip of Melasti Beach Ungasan, visitors had to descend and climb hundreds of stairs. Due to of the isolated beach location, not many tourists know about Melasti beach in Ungasan

The main attraction of Melasti Beach Ungasan lies in the road access to Melasti Beach Ungasan. You have to pass through a winding descent path that is above the towering white limestone cliffs. The access road to the beach is surrounded by white coral cliffs, similar to coral cliffs on the road to the Pandawa Kutuh beach in Bali. Currently, the road to the location of Melasti Beach Ungasan at the top of the white limestone hill is asphalted. This type of asphalt is very smooth, clean and the asphalt road is very wide. So that tourists who visit can easily pass the road by car or motorbike.

Tanah lot epitomizes the romantic island of Bali. Tanah Lot means Land in The Sea, a perfectly fit name for its unique offshore settings. The silhouette of Pura Tanah Lot is one of the most popular iconic features of Bali.

Imagine the image of a Balinese temple (pura) perched high on the rock, facing the wide open ocean. With the crashing waves below and the dramatic colors of the dusk sky as background, lit by the slowly disappearing sun. Tanah Lot is located in Tabanan, only around 30 km away from Denpasar. The temple is located some 300 meters offshore. The history of Tanah Lot temple was believed to date back to the 16th century, by Dang Hyang Nirartha, a respected religious figure in Bali.

Dang Hyang Nirartha was said to be the one who created a three-temple system in Balinese villages. Setting the site plan that the temple built in the northern area of the village would be for Brahma, middle area for Vishnu and the southern side for Shiva. While traveling along the southern coast of Bali, he saw the little rock-island and decided to spend the night. The rock was known as Gili Beo, which means a bird-shaped rock, located in Beraban village. He then felt an enlightenment, that this was a holy place to build a shrine. The leader of Beraban was angry and order people to banish Nirartha from Gili Beo.

In Balinese mythology, Dang Hyang Nirartha was known as a man of mighty supernatural power. So he moves the whole rock island to the sea, builds a temple and named it Tanah Lot. The whole Beraban village were astounded and later join to follow he believes. Tanah Lot temple was built to worship Bhatara Segara, or the sea God. To protect the temple, with his mighty power, he created a poisonous snake from his sash. The sea snake is believed to be living at the base of this rocky island, to guard the temple from evil intruders.
Today, as one of the most photographed sea temple in Bali, you will find many art shops offering local handicrafts besides other signature local products at the entrance to get to Tanah Lot.

The best time to visit Tanah Lot is during Odalan, which is celebrated every 210 days. The rituals usually takes place near the Galungan and Kuningan festivities on the holy day known as Buddha Cemeng Langkir. On this day you will see rows of Balinese women gracefully carrying offerings on their head to pray at the temple of Tanah Lot. The tourist area of Tanah Lot near the rock is very well managed for visitors. It has a parking area, toilets, art shops, restaurants, hotel, open stage, tourist information center, security and safety services.

There are many restaurants here where you can enjoy a sumptuous breakfast or lunch, while enjoying the panorama. Experience the serenity of the tropical sun slowly disappearing beyond the horizon into the wide open ocean, an incredible sight to treasure all your life.

IMPACT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON THE HOSPITALITY SECTOR IN BALI

The COVID-19 pandemic (corona virus disease-19) or also known as the Corona virus is currently sweeping the world. There are more than 194 million positive cases of corona virus infection worldwide and it has killed more than 4.1 million people. Indonesia as the country with the fourth most populous population in the world is expected to have a very significant impact and in a period of time that may be longer than other countries due to the lack of discipline. The impact of this pandemic is not only on the world of health, but also greatly affects all aspects of people's lives. Currently, people are encouraged to practice social distancing, where learning, working, and worshiping activities are carried out at home. In addition, recommendations regarding health protocols from the WHO (World Health Organization) such as diligently washing hands, maintaining health and hygiene and always wearing masks when leaving the house are also continuously echoed. This certainly has an impact on the general economic condition of the community, where many people have been laid off because the company they work for has stopped operating either temporarily or permanently due to this pandemic. One of the industries most affected by the pandemic is the tourism industry, which includes the tourist accommodation or hospitality sector. especially in Bali where all the people are very dependent on this industry. This pandemic has been a nightmare for us because we have to fight 2 equally deadly things, namely the virus and hunger. The local government has given directives for all people to stay at home. The hospitality sector has been paralyzed for the last 2 years. With no visitors coming for the last 2 years automatically all of the tourists desnation place also decided to closed their place. We all hope that this pandemic ends soon

Megibung is one of the unique tradition in east of Bali

This megibung tradition was introduced by the King of Karangasem, namely I Gusti Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem around 1614 Caka or 1692 AD. When at that time, Karangasem in his expedition conquered the kings of Lombok. When resting from war, the king advised all his soldiers to eat together in a circular position which later became known as Megibung.
In fact, the king himself is said to have eaten together with his soldiers. Megibung starts with cooking traditional Balinese dishes together, be it rice or side dishes. After finishing cooking, residents then prepare the food to be eaten. White rice is placed in a container called gibungan, while the side dishes and vegetables to be eaten are called "Karangan".

This megibung tradition is carried out when there are traditional and religious ceremonies in a place, especially in the Karangasem area, for example in yadnya ceremonies such as weddings, odalan at temples, cremations, three-monthly ceremonies, and other celebrations. In this activity, usually those who have an event give invitations to their relatives and relatives to witness the procession of the religious ceremony. So that the procession of the ceremony can take place as expected. There are some ethics that need to be considered during the megibung event, before eating we must wash our hands first, don't drop crumbs / leftovers from a bite, don't take food next to us, if one of us is satisfied and full, it is forbidden to leave his friend, even though this rule does not written but still followed by participants eating megibung.

"Don't Enter the holy place while you get your menstrual", WHY??

Actually, it is not only Hinduism that prohibits menstruating women from entering temples, but there are also other religious teachings that teach the same thing. Because, the holy place is a place to worship God. And menstrual blood is considered dirty, so that it can lead to pretending to be impure. In Bali (Hindu) Not only menstruating women who are not allowed to enter the temple, but also women or men who are experiencing cuntaka (a "dirty" period because a family member has recently died).

The fact that a person who on "cuntaka" is a person who is in a state of imbalance in himself. This imbalance can give rise to bad vibrations. This bad vibration can damage the vibrations of other people who are in the holy place to strive to bring out the holy vibrations in him in order to be able to connect himself with God who is the most holy, and it is feared that later it can affect the vibrations of holiness from the holy place visited by people who are in a state of being cuntaka. Therefore, going to holy places of public worship is not allowed to prevent these bad vibrations from affecting other people and affecting the vibrations of the sanctity of the holy place.
So, the prohibition for them has nothing to do with "discrimination", people who are permanently disabled. We can pray properly even if you don't visit the holy place (for the reasons above) by said our wishes in the heart. People who experience a period of cuntaka, are allowed to return to the temple after 12 days since they do the cremation ceremony and do the cleansing ceremony. And for the woman they can back to the holy place after their menstruation clean.

Playing kites or "Melayangan" is a tradition that is still practiced by Balinese people today. Regarding the guwang, it sounded like a flute blowing and there was also something like the sound of a flying helicopter. The kite is big. It took the strength of five adults to fly it. The bigger the size, the more people needed to control the kite. Kite controllers are not only played by young children, but adults also enjoy them.
This tradition of Melayangan comes from the habit of farmer children who spend time in the fields or rice fields. While looking after the fields and livestock, they have fun playing kites. In Bali, there is a mythological story of Rare Angon or the god of kites. Rare Angon is believed by Hindus to be the incarnation of Lord Shiva who has the image of a child while herding buffaloes in the fields. The story of Rare Angon is also closely related to the presence of the gods when the harvest season arrives. At that time, Rare Angon will come to earth accompanied by the blowing of the flute which is interpreted as a sign of calling the wind. This is also believed to be a form of protection given by gods to protect rice fields from pests.
First up, the Be-bean kite. This kite is shaped like a fish, has a point in the middle and is oriented in eight cardinal directions. Named Be-bean because the word 'be' means fish. second, the pecuk Kite. The shape of this kite is simple. It has four corners that are bent in shape and look like leaves. It is called "pecuk" because in Balinese, pecuk means to bend. third, the Janggan kite. This kite is a sacred kite. The shape is very unique, with a very long tail up to tens of meters or more. It took a lot of people to fly this kite. When it airs, Layangan Janggan will look like a dragon which is believed by the Balinese people to be like a guardian of the balance and stability of the earth.
