It was created with a dragon theme throughout with a water slide, cave, and double deck pool with a Dragon's Nest as the upper pool!

I am always in a meeting with our contractor Nengah... the man with a solution for everything it seems!! (y) It is very exciting to finally see the pool shape up...

This is when it moves quickly! So exciting!

Pouring the cement

As seen on top of the roof as the cement is poured. They must move quickly or it will crack!

Our doors arrive!

The first thing we bought were doors since Nengah needed the measurements to frame the house. We found two stunning doors from Timor. The VERY HEAVY DOOR Matthias is lifting (with the help of Made Rata and delivery men) will be the front door and the other one laying down will be used to enter the bathroom area. Very exciting!! ;-)

Our story

We invite you to join us in the creation of Dragon’s Nest. We began construction in May of 2019. It is a very interesting and uplifting project for all of us involved. We first thought we would build a small house for ourselves while other families are visiting Katana Villa from around the world. Then as it progressed we realised we were creating something unique, something others would enjoy. Although still in construction, we are contemplating to turn it into a vacation rental.

Why do we call it “Dragon’s Nest?” The name came to us after we learned the story of our land. We were told this land is full of holy spirits, including dragon spirits that come down from Bangle Mountains to rest here. Back in the day, the holy men of the village would come here to meditate and pray because of this.

As any creative process, if you are open to it and listen, you are carried along. Fortunately for us we found an excellent hardworking and honest contractor, Nengah Ardy who understands us and has been flexible with us every step of the way as things keep changing. He also surrounds himself with excellent workers.

We had the dream to make an endless pool with a waterslide and the upper pool would be a “nest” with mother dragon’s claws holding it. It was a fanciful thought and we never imagined we could actually DO IT for two reasons; 1). A project that big would be out of our budget, and 2). We had no idea how we could find the only artist we knew of that could make this fantasy a reality.
