This picture was taken from a plane en route to Labuan Bajo from Bali, showing a small volcanic island called Sangeang. Located to the northeast of Sumbawa and not far from Komodo National Park, Sangeang is notable for its volcanic activity. The most recent eruption occurred in May 2014, producing significant smoke and ash that disrupted activities at Komodo Airport and tourism in Komodo National Park for several days. I recall being on a boat at that time, and we had to return to shore due to poor visibility and ash covering the boat 🏝️

Here's the facts: After hatching these giant lizards go through hard times because other predators, like wild boar, snakes and other Komodo dragons, are preying on them. Even Komodo's mothers will prey on their own hatchlings! The appearance of baby dragons is similar to the monitor lizard as they both have black and yellow spots on their bodies but they are a different species. Baby dragons live in trees and only come down for drinking water or hunting small animals. Don't be mistaken, they are also not 100% safe up in the trees because hawk sea eagles are hunting for them as well.
