The name for our Villa (Villa Puaji) was derived from the name of the Temple (Pura) at the end of our street. Pura Mpu Aji.
Pura Mpu Aji has a large cultural significance for the Balinese people. Vast numbers of Hindus come from all over Bali for ceremonies every 6 months. If you are lucky enough to be here during this time, be sure to have your camera ready, as the colours of the culture are in full swing.
Though our Villa name is new, the Villa has been our private home for the past 16 years. Our family has shared so many amazing times here over the past years but with our lives being filled with lots a grandchildren now we don’t get to come over as much these days so have decided to let others make lasting memories and enjoy what we feel is a special place.
This room is at its best with the doors left open, the breezes are lovely and cooling at night, a hint for even more airflow is to open the windows behind the bed. The wall mounted fan if required, is usually set facing on the bed, if you wish it to oscillate there is a lever on the top of the fan you need to pull up. You will however need to stand on a chair to reach (please take care) or you can contact your host to do it for you.
If you wish to lock your door while out for the day or at night you will find a key hanging on the side of the wardrobe.
Loft Bedroom
Please ensure that gate at top of stairs is closed and locked at all times while using bedroom. (over the last 16 years we have never lost a person yet, so please keep the gate locked) There is a key hanging next to the door if you wish to lock while out or sleeping.
Please switch on the night light located near the vanity every night before going to bed. This will give you enough light to see if needing to use the bathroom, with out turning on all the bright lights during the night.
King Day Bed
What’s not to love about resting during the day on this beauty. If you’re a party of 6 you will also be using this bed at night. You will see a portable fan in the Villa which is perfect to place behind this bed, during the day or night if required. You can also drop down the blinds for added privacy.
Suggestions for sleeping arrangements for guests with little ones
If you have young children around 7 to 12 years we suggest you place the children in the Main Bedroom and parents use the Loft bedroom.
For younger children what we do is have them in the main bedroom with us and use the day lounges. Either using the day mattresses on the floor or moving the day beds into the room. Ask your hosts to get you out some extra blankets and sheets if your going to use this option
Please, if you have any children that can not swim, keep the rooms locked at night for safety.
Kitchen
We have various kitchen appliances, pots and pans and utensils. Rice maker, blender, (great for cocktails) toaster, kettle, wok, pots and pans. Just poke around all the cupboards to familiarise yourself with where everything is. We have a small bar fridge in the kitchen and a larger fridge out in the laundry area.
The water dispenser has 3 settings, hot boiled, tempered and cold.
You will find various items for cooking as oil, salt and pepper. You will also be supplied with tea, coffee, sugar and milk.
Tv, Entertainment & Wi-Fi
We have connected for your enjoyment Wi-Fi indihome. This gives you up 40 channels for viewing, wi-fi and free local calls using the phone provided. This phone will be useful for booking restaurants and tours.
In the draws you will also find many dvds, both music and movies and lots of CD’s. We also supply a music doc and a blue tooth speaker. Next to the entertainment unit on the ground is a local ceremony container, inside you will find some card games, and useful items like rain coats etc.
Laundry
You are welcome to use the washing machine. The settings are in Indonesian but basically all you need to do it turn it on, select the water level button to the desired level and push start. Add your powder and close the lid. You can roll up the blinds a bit if you require all the line area. In the main bedroom bathroom cupboard you will find an iron, sorry we don’t have a ironing board, just use a couple of beach towel folded on the kitchen bench.
BBQ
Believe it or not, not many villas in Bali have a BBQ, this is a pretty prized procession.
Unfortunately, the automatic lighting switch has died so you will need to light it using the supplied long lighter. Other than that, it works perfectly and cooks the best whole chickens.
We do ask that you clean the BBQ before departing from the Villa. Please cover when its cooled and not in use.
Day lounges
These can be moved to wherever you like, they have wheels to make it easier.
It would be appreciated if you would place the mattresses on the day bed or inside the villa if it looks like rain.
Pool
Please supervise small children at all times. We ask that you don’t dive or jump into the pool for your safety.
The pool is serviced at least 3 times a week, as with our gardens. There fore our trusted pool maintenance and gardener Putu will be accessing the Villa when required. He will always announce his arrival before entering if you are in the Villa, if you are out, he will be letting him self in with his key. Please advise Putu if some reason his time of visit is inconvenient and let your hosts know also so they can reschedule.
There is no pool light so at night switch on the spotlights, the switch is next to the King Day Bed.
Garden Lights
Along with the front entry lights the garden lights come on automatically. If at night you wish to turn them off before going to bed, the switch is in the pool pump room just as where the door opens. You will need to switch them back on to work the following night.
Safety
First Aid kit
In the main bedroom bathroom under the first sink you will find a first aid kit should you require it.
The local hospital is also well equipped with good doctors should you require any medical assistance.
Fire Extinguisher
Please familiarise yourself and fellow guests where the fire extinguisher is placed should it be required.
In the unlikely event a fire does occur and can not be extinguished straight up. Please do not compromise your safety. exit the villa to a safe place and notify any local of the fire, if you have your phone, please contact your hosts straight away.
Power
Should the power go out its most likely the whole island. To check we have 2 circuit breakers on the side/back kitchen wall of the bbq area, one near the water dispenser and one near the back wall. Check to see if either of these of have tripped. If not, it means the whole island had gone out. If they are tripped just try and switch back or contact your hosts. In the unlikely event that the whole island has gone out it should return fairly quickly.
Getting around.
You will find it easy to hire motor bikes on the island. The price is usually between 60,000 to 70,000 rupiah per day. Please take care when ever riding on motor bikes and always be on the ready for tourists that may be riding on the wrong side of the road. Note the trucks do not like to move over for you so just try to keep left at all times. Please never ride while adversely affected by acholic.
For families with young children you can hire buggies and even a taxi service. However, keep in mind most restaurants will supply you a free pick up and drop off service.
You can also hire push bikes.
Restaurants
The island of Nusa Lembongan has many restaurants to choose from, ranging from local warungs to high end style restaurants. As mentioned, most restaurants will supply a pickup and drop off service. By using the phone provided you can make a booking and request a pickup. Due to the fact our Villa and name is just new the public, some restaurants may not know the location. Tell them it’s near Mpu Aji temple, near Surya Coffee shop, in Jungut Batu. and that you will meet them at the coffee shop, that’s less than 30mts from the villa.
Speaking of Surya Coffee shop, if coffee is your thing, you will be hard pressed to find a better coffee any where on the island. Gede makes what we think is the best coffee ever and it’s a 1minute walk from the villa and costs 25000 rupiah (that’s $2.5 AUD)
Jungut Batu Beach
Although the Island is called Nusa Lembongan, the villa is located in Jungut Batu. The Village of Lembongan is up on the hill, you will pass through Lembongan Village on your way to explore the island. Other areas are Mushroom beach, Sunset Beach and Dream Beach to name a few.
Jungut Batu beach is less than a 5 min walk from the villa. Across the road from Surya Coffee shop (located on our crn on the main road) you will see various lanes which lead directly to the beach, one being right next to the Legend Dive centre. The sunsets are so lovely, so go for a walk and explore the beach and various businesses along the shoreline.
Surfing
There are 3 main surf breaks at Jungut Batu beach area.
The closet being Shipwrecks, a right hander breaking in deep water best at mid to high tide. Can paddle out or grab a boat
Lacerations a right hander, breaks in shallow water. Will need to grab a boat to reach break
Playgrounds Softer peak wave (breaks both left and right) can either do a short paddle out by going to coconut beach (up on the buket) or grab a boat
Note all these breaks are best surfed mid to high tide.
You will find boats that go out to the breaks if you head left when you reach the beach, cost ranging from 50000 to 100000 Rp return depending on the break distance.
