This is a jungle trekking package in the Tapanuli Orangutan habitat package is available for 3 days 2 night. Stay in the forest using tents with limited facilities.

Why do you need 3 days? this is a wild Orangutan. Need to track his whereabouts in the forest. Our jungle guide will help find the Tapanuli orangutan. Remember! this is a very rare wild Orangutan. It takes more effort to be able to meet in the wild.

The Tapanuli orangutan is a species of the orangutan genus originating from the Tapanuli area, Sumatra. Tapanuli. The Tapanuli orangutan is an additional new species as well as the third species discovered after the Bornean orangutan and Sumatran orangutan. The results of recent research show that only 600-800 individuals remain in the wild, making it the most endangered great ape in the world. Living in a forest area of 120,000 hectares which is getting smaller due to increasing interventions in their habitat.

The Tapanuli orangutan is a unique species. From our observations since 2018, orangutans will survive in a forest area if their food is sufficient. In one day Orangutans will eat at least 4 types of food (fruit, leaves, insects, tree bark). Moreover, the forest area where they live is not wide enough. Each Orangutan applies its own territory, especially the male who is very defensive of his territory.

The orangutan forest that we manage is a forest area where 7 individual orangutans live with only 1 adult male and the rest are females and their young. Togos is the dominant male here with a well-built and large stature. Usually in the afternoon Togos will make a loud sound to mark its territory. That becomes our marker to go towards the sound and meet it.

Orangutan Tapanuli jungle trekking is a package that we offer for wildlife tourism activities. This package is packed for 3 days and 2 nights to ensure you can meet wild Tapanuli orangutans. To meet the wild Tapanuli Orangutan, more effort is needed. Remember! This is a wild Orangutan that moves freely in the forest. But don’t worry, our jungle guide will track the orangutan’s whereabouts by reading signs such as broken tree branches, food marks, nests and sounds. It usually takes 2-3 days.

Finally appeared at the end of the journey. That morning, intending to bathe in the Sitandiang river, I had taken off my clothes and was only wearing shorts. Then the gibbon was seen on the river bank enjoying its breakfast. After identification, it turned out that this was a "tame" group of gibbons. It is used to meeting humans at a safe distance so it is easy to photograph in various poses.

Tapanuli Forest Ecosystem, High-Value Biodiversity

The Tapanuli Forest in North Sumatra exhibits extraordinary richness in its tropical rainforest ecosystem, from stunning flora and fauna to its role in maintaining the environment. I invite you to discuss the Tapanuli forest ecosystem in more depth, the wealth hidden within it, and the importance of preserving the forest for the sustainability of life in the region.

The Tapanuli Forest, located in North Sumatra Province, Indonesia, is a crucial tropical rainforest ecosystem not only for the biodiversity it houses but also for the environmental well-being of the region. This forest is home to several rare and endemic species, such as the Tapanuli Orangutan (Pongo tapanuliensis), which can only be found within this forest.

The Tapanuli forest ecosystem reflects a perfect natural balance in the interactions between flora and fauna. One particularly fascinating aspect is the role of pollinators, such as butterflies, local honey bees, and various bird species, which help spread pollen from one plant to another. Without these pollinators, many plants in the Tapanuli forest would not be able to reproduce effectively.

In addition to animal life, the Tapanuli forest ecosystem also plays a role in maintaining the quality of water and soil in the area. The vast root systems of trees absorb rainwater and aid in avoiding floods and erosion, while also maintaining soil fertility by recycling nutrients through fallen leaves. The forest's function as a water reservoir is also vital for the life of rivers and lakes in the area, which serve as a source of life for local communities.

The Tapanuli Forest also acts as a carbon dioxide absorber in the atmosphere, contributing to climate change mitigation.

However, the preservation of the Tapanuli Forest faces severe threats, such as illegal hunting, deforestation, and land conversion for plantations. Preservation and conservation efforts become an urgent priority for both the government and local communities. Involving the community in forest preservation and promoting the development of ecotourism as a form of natural resource preservation is one way to raise awareness.

Draco Sumatranus: Little Dragon In Sumatra's Forests

Draco Sumatranus, The rare and endemic gliding lizard found only in Sumatra, is discussed in terms of habitat, uniqueness, and the important conservation efforts needed to ensure the survival of this species.

Draco Sumatranus, also known as the Sumatran Gliding Lizard, is a species of gliding lizard found only in Sumatra, Indonesia. A delight to many reptile enthusiasts and nature lovers alike, this gliding lizard is often overlooked as a valuable part of the ecosystem.

The Uniqueness of Draco Sumatranus The Sumatran Gliding Lizard has its own unique characteristics that set it apart from lizards found all over the world. Not only does it have an attractive color pattern of brown, green, and gold, but Draco Sumatranus also possesses the ability to glide from tree to tree in search of food and evading predators.

Captivated by the natural beauty of Sumatra, encountering Draco Sumatranus adds to a list of surprising natural experiences we've been longing for. Amidst dense foliage and mesmerizing blue skies, we feel as if we are becoming one with the story of this Flying Dragon.

Sumatra's Habitat and the Threats It Faces As an endemic species, Draco Sumatranus can be found in Sumatra's tropical rainforests at elevations of 900 to 1,200 meters above sea level. However, this species is also threatened by habitat destruction due to illegal logging and encroachment on agricultural lands.

The high rate of deforestation in Sumatra must be a collective concern so that endemic species such as Draco Sumatranus do not go extinct due to human greed. Cross-agency collaboration and community involvement are essential for maintaining the stability of the existing ecosystem.

Draco Sumatranus symbolizes the natural richness and beauty of Sumatra's forest habitat. As a society proud of Indonesia's diverse fauna, we must continue to fight for the existence of this Flying Dragon. We hope to enjoy the beauty of Sumatra's skies, blessed with the presence of Draco Sumatranus, for a long time to come.

The Story of the Black Sumatran Langur

The Black Sumatran langur, also known as the Sumatran langur monkey, is a unique and amazing primate species found in the forests of Sumatra. This article will describe the characteristics and behavior of the charming Black Sumatran Langur, as well as the importance of their survival in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem.

Sumatra's nature hoards a million treasures and beauties that are sometimes overlooked. One of these treasures is the existence of the Black Sumatran Langur (Trachypithecus auratus), a rare primate that lives in the Sumatran tropical forest.

Characteristics of the Black Sumatran Langur

At first glance, the Black Sumatran Langur looks similar to other monkeys. Their body is of medium size and reaches around 58-62 cm in length and weighs around 7-9 kg. However, what makes them unique is their black fur with a 'crown' resembling a peak on top of their head. Their round and brown eyes hold a high sense of curiosity for the world around them.

Behavior and Life of the Black Sumatran Langur

As a diurnal (active during the day) and arboreal (living in trees) animal, the Black Sumatran Langur leads a life full of activities. They are social primates that live in groups consisting of 4-20 individuals. In this group there is a dominant male who leads the group. Their daily activities include moving from tree to tree, searching for food such as leaves, fruits, flowers, and tree shoots, as well as playing and maintaining cleanliness.

Conservation Dilemma

Unfortunately, the Black Sumatran Langur faces a significant threat due to deforestation and poaching to be kept as pets or even for consumption. Their population continues to decline, and according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the current status of the Black Sumatran Langur is listed as "nearly threatened".

The Importance of the Black Sumatran Langur

This primate plays an important role in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem. They contribute to the spread of seeds and the formation of species diversity of vegetation in the forest.

3D2N Forest Tour

Mr. told me he wanted to see a Sumatran black langur in the Orangutan forest that we manage. Determine the date of preparing for departure. The first day, the forest looks quiet, not much sound of wild animals.Usually this forest is full of signs of wildlife. We did a short night trekking at night.

The second day, 10 minutes walking in the forest leaving the camp, the movement of the tree branches caught our attention. A large bright orange figure was seen moving. Wow! We met a female Tapanuli orangutan with a baby who was over 1 year old. We didn't waste time following the movement of this Orangutan. Waiting at a safe distance for the Orangutan to calm down. Several times a branch was broken and then dropped wanting to drive us away. We keep our distance, so the Orangutans are comfortable. Only after that, free to take pictures from various angles. You are lucky! It's not easy to meet wild Tapanuli orangutans. Usually on the third or fourth day of the tour you can meet orangutans after reading the traces of broken branches, nests and other signs.

Main target in this tour met Sumatran black langurs who set foot in the forest all day, took a break at noon, then continued until late in the evening and then we met 1 group of Sumatran black langurs. This is a very wild group. 4 bandits who are always on the move. Hard to get good photos. The next morning, the main target was actually sleeping in a tree right above the camp location. Hmm, 1 large group of more than 7 tails. Some babies and adults move but not too wild. This group provides the opportunity to be photographed.

Thank you for visiting. We apologize if the service we provide if there is an error while serving this trip. Let us know when you are satisfied.🙏

Nepenthes jamban is a species of pitcher plant endemic to Sumatra. The name of this species is taken to refer to the shape of the pouch which resembles a latrine or toilet.

Usually grows terrestrial in forests that have an altitude above 1000 meters above sea level. I found this rare semar office in Gon-gonan Forest at an altitude of 1200m in a forest covered in thick moss. Forest areas that have not been fully exposed. I am sure that there is a lot of biodiversity there that has not been properly recorded.

I have encountered many types of pitcher plants in the forests of North Sumatra. This type is the first time to see it. Her unique shape makes one wonder what kind she is. Looking for information here and there, it turns out he is endemic to North Sumatra (cmiiw). And after I exposed it to social media, some mass media took this news because it was considered rare.
