Swimming through the depths as Homaloptera orthogoniata, I invite you to join me on a remarkable journey through the rivers of Sarawak and Kalimantan. My name, rooted in Greek, reflects the unique features that define me – flat fins and straight angles, symbols of my adaptability in the currents. From the Sungai Baram to the Sungai Mahakam, I gracefully navigate these waters, marking my presence in the rich biodiversity of Borneo. Picture the swift-flowing streams, where gravel and rocks create a mosaic of shelter. Amidst the biofilm and algae, I thrive, grazing on microorganisms that sustain me in this aquatic paradise. My Max size At 13 cm, I find my comfort in temperatures between 20 and 25.5 °C, with water pH ranging from 6.0 to 7.5 and hardness from 18 to 179 ppm. Notably, I can be distinguished by my distinctive markings – three large, saddle-shaped patterns adorning my dorsal surface, accompanied by a dark brown base of my caudal fin. Though not aggressive, my specific needs make me selective in choosing tankmates, ensuring harmony in our underwater world. Dive into my aquatic realm as we unravel the secrets of my existence!
