In Indonesia, the concept of "teman" encompasses a much broader and fluid reality than "friend". It’s not solely about close, long-term bonds—it’s about the connections we make in passing, the shared moments that may be fleeting but still leave a lasting impression.
In Flores, teman can be anyone you meet:
A chance encounter on a dusty Flores road,
A stranger offering you a cigarette, or
A shared laugh over arak (local liquor) on a wild night,
