My 2 not-so-rascally-anymore rascals commented that these are better than McD! 😮

Is it Tasting or Tasiting? Is it just a pun to tell how tasty these quirky burgers from China are?

Oh, Tasiting is the literal romanisation from its original Chinese name 塔斯汀! Sandwiched between freshly baked burger buns, these burgers add an excellent twist to the western burgers with crispy breaded chicken fillet and another one variation that I enjoyed was the duck meat seasoned with cumin. Not to mention the pop in flavours we found the popcorn chicken and chicken nuggets.

Oh, the fries! I must say these fries are better than McD's, striking the right balance between being too light vs. Too heavy. And I love that fries are placed in a ala Match Box paper box, you get it don't you?! The fries = the matches!

It's just our first meal here in Quan Zhou after touch-down, and my younger rascal who have been complaining on how boring our China trip would be, decided to say, "I'll take back my words, China is being good after all. At least there's good food."

The Pangkor #邦咯岛老汉 白面 Laksa is my all-time not-to-be-missed when I'm here at Pangkor. Flavourful soup with fresh kembong fish, and uneven white noodles that are unique here at Pangkor.

Other specialities worth a try here are Curry Laksa, Lo Mee, Curry Lo Mee, Blended Jagung Drink and Blended Red Bean Drink.

La Mesa ~ a Spanish restaurant we chanced upon at ioi City Mall when we were there on Sunday for the Star Education Fair.

One dish that stole the spotlight was the giant octopus, both chewy and succulent! The tenderloin and sausages were rather good too, we selected our choice pieces at the front counter before these got sent to the kitchen. The quesadillas were a good blend of cheesy goodness and savoury fillings, while the mussels offered a delightful burst of freshness.

Our seafood paella was beautifully presented and looked promising... While the presentation lived up to expectations, the dish was unfortunately slightly wet and undercooked, leaving room for improvement.

My younger boy was rather thrilled with the ala Spain cooking for the day and he commented that "he didn't like any of the food" because "he just LOVEEEE it!" What a way to profess his love for food if the day, haha!

Today's adventure led us to a cozy seafood spot where we savoured the freshest seafood at affordable prices, thanks to a local friend who brought us around.

The Muhibbah spirit at Madam Ing Fish Noodle restaurant witnessed people from various ethnicities savouring the beloved local dish of fish noodles together. Known as 鱼腐, or fish tofu, it's a delightful fusion of fish ball and tofu, offering a soft texture with a satisfying bite.

The soup base comprises of fish broth infused with salted vegetables and evaporated milk, adding depth and richness to the flavorful dish.

The signature dish here at Zoooli Fish is as its name suggests, the Sichuan fish in pickled mustard, offering a flavourful broth with a base of chicken broth infused with pickled mustard. One can customize the spice level according to their preference, with Sichuan peppercorn adding an extra fragrance and dried chilli for the extra kick.

Watching the chef in action, I observed the meticulous process of heating up the chicken broth and adding in of the spices. The fish, delicately cooked to perfection, undergoes a quick blanching in boiling water before being showered with the boiling broth, allowing the flesh to reach its ideal texture.

Indulging in Seremban seafood delights in Kota Kinabalu! The key difference lies in the unparalleled freshness of the local catch.

A personal favorite is the locally sourced White Clam, known as 沙白, which we enjoyed stir-fried with scallion and ginger this time. Previously, we relished it in a soothing soup.

Among other delicacies, we delighted in prawns cooked in creamy buttermilk and steamed slices of giant grouper. Although it was just the two of us this time, we missed the larger group needed to fully savor a whole live fish, a highlight from our previous visit.

So, which chicken rice ball shop would you patronise at Melacca? And what's your criteria for a good plate of chicken rice?

For me, Hoe Kee Chicken Rice Shop would always be our go-to place. First established in 1962, this shop along Jonker Street serves one of the most authentic Hainese Chicken Rice with other side dishes.

What's good? Its Hainanese chicken for sure, though the presentation doesn't look that appetising, your taste buds will still be tickled when the tender-soft-smooth-juicy chicken meat placed over cucumber and a nice concoction of soy sauce, reaches your mouth. The chicken is nicely paired with fragrant Chilli sauce, and rice balls cooked with chicken stock hand shaped with golf balls. The Chilli sauce is definitely a determining factor for me!

Another draw for me would be the Assam fish, as flavourful as can be and at the right level of spice. Put that Assam pedas gravy over the chicken rice balls for a satisfying meal!
