.
It’s time for another ceremony.
Because in Bali, the ceremony must be every day.

Today the farmers are celebrating Byukukung which is an important ceremony to welcome the rice to come out of the plants just like welcoming a baby from the mother’s belly that is ready to pop out.

The uniqueness of Byukukung is in the form of the use of penjor, various types of decorations, Ketupat, the use of chili, and ‘Utik’ from coconut fronds.

The implementation time is also different for each subak according to the period of rice pregnancy.

The Byukukung ceremony is done by the farmers who own or cultivate their respective fields.
The farmers start very early in the morning and light fire on the Utik to show the way.
The smell of this burning coconut fronds is even more interesting than incense.

I used to join my parents to do the ceremony because at the end of the offering they will hand me some chicken and symbolically sounding a Gong that was actually Ketupat which is a diamond shaped coconut leafs with rice inside.

Gonggggg,, and then enjoying the chicken and Ketupat.

Do you know that we have special day for Cars and Scooters in Bali?
How come?
Yes, it’s coming on Saturday every 210 days calculated in Balinese calendar.
This day is part of other anniversary days for the trees, animals, puppets, and music instruments that come on different Saturdays every 210 days based on Balinese calendar weeks.
But cars and scooters are modern things?
That’s right,
The name of the day is Tumpek Landep, from the word Landep or Lancip which means pointed or Sharp.
The day was originally celebrated to worship the God for the Sharpness of the mind (intelligence) which is symbolized with sharp (pointed) knifes.
Knifes made of metal, and Balinese believe anything that made of metal has sharpness.
Included cars and scooters.
And also the ceremony brings us good luck and feeling safe driving on the roads.

Demon statues are everywhere in Bali,
especially in front of the gates of the temples.
The demon figure is like a reflection for us.
Before entering a holy place,
you should introspect yourself.
Have we cleaned ourselves,
thoughts,
words,
and actions.
It means, once we enter the holy place,
we have to let go of our demonic nature.
It’s also a symbol of protection.
To protect ourselves from the demons.
The demonic nature.

I cherish and enjoy the ones
I am lucky enough to guide through my island,

Thank you so very much dear Ruben and Berta for your presence and vibe.
You two are such a great company,

We love to talk about ends and beginnings,
to send cards, to give meanings.
But all we have is now,
sending the sun to one another
across the globe 🌎
daily.
May travelling become free and happy again soon,
as it is the richest way to learn and live.
Happy New years of explorations, everybody!

Bali awaits for you all! 🌞🐋🏝

.
Almost 2 years have passed
since I last had regular flowing tourist jobs.

And while aware that TIME is a human invention,
one can still notice its passing
in the growing of hair.

However, Balinese men were built differently.
But if my hair would grow as fast as my clients’
I would certainly look like a chocolate Santa Clause today
after the mountains of waiting and missing I’ve been doing lately.

May these TIMES end soon
and DISTANCE between Rinduku and all its old and new clients
disappear in 2022.

Wishing you warm Holidays, full of meaning, humor and peace!

Another year, another victory of the Good (Dharma) on the island of Bali.
🌺
No matter how dark the darkest night can get,
no matter how furious the storm,
the sun will always shine bright again!
☀️
Cheers to the good, the patient, the hopeful and the sunny souls that will soon be able
to visit my island once more!
🙏🏼

This is me, Darwin a.k.a Wayan.
And that’s my white horse
that shall remain naimless.

You might have met me already
or you’re about to meet me soon
when Bali will re-open.

Both me and my horse
are optimistic characters
and know that this magical island of Gods
will become once again
full of curious tourists
from all over the world,
and I will get to see my friends return
and ride with them again
to all the best places I know.
Soon.

We were all born
loving, peaceful, humble beings
who do not discriminate
by race, status or religion.

I wish we can all keep that purity
of when we were children
and leave in peace and harmony.

Love from Bali ✌️❤️

Wayan “Rinduku Bali Tours”

Hello, My name is Wayan ‘Gd Darwin’. I’m Balinese originally from Tegallalang, Gianyar - Bali. I have been meeting people from all over the world since many years ago, and most of them are my friends now. I was a lucky young school boy who was born not far from Ubud, where I have more chance to meet people from many countries. I was curious about different cultures and wanted to speak with English to someone. In Bali, we only speak Balinese with our family and friends, nobody will speak English to you in your community. Although, I have been studying English at school, but it wasn’t enough. I want to speak with a real people from different countries. It’s become a motivation for me to be brave to see strangers in Ubud city, talked to them and showed them my village.

That time was in 2010, I started to have international friendships and feel proud to myself that I’m just a village boy. I love meeting different people and share my cultures and traditions. I’d really love if somebody ask me about Balinese lifestyle and Religion we live in Bali. I would be very happy to meet more and more friends to share what I know about this beautiful island and it has motivated me to build this tour services.

Rinduku Bali Tours is a reflection of what I feel of meeting new friends as y vision in doing tour to make you love Bali more and more. Our tour is customize-able depending on your needs and I will assist you to arrange the best tour itinerary. Don’t worry about price because our tour rate is very reasonable.
