Sulphur-crested Cockatoo | Cacatua galerita .
Sized 38–51cm. Lowland and hill forest and open country in New Guinea region. A large and vocal white cockatoo with high yellow crest and black beak. Male iris dark brown; Female’s same or red-brown.In flight note heavy body; wings rounded, underwing pale yellow; wingbeats rapid and shallow, followed by a glide.

15 cm. Kofiau Island only, in Raja ampat islands of Western Papua islands,where Spot-winged M is absent. Common in forest. Adult, blackish upperparts, no wing spots (or obscure).

Small 20–21cm. Endemic bird of Waigeo and Batanta in Rajaampat Islands only.A small, insular pitohui. All plumages unique, with pale brownish-grey head and upperparts; underparts tan-brown.

Mountain Kingfisher | Halcyon megarhyncha |
large 21–23 cm. Uncommon, montane counterpart to yellow- billed K. Mountain K nearly identical,but noticeably larger with proportionately longer bill. Note blackish marking atop yellowish bill (bill unmarked in Huon Pen birds). Beware that imm yellow- billed can have yellow bill with black patches.

Pasific reef egret | Kuntul karang adalah sejenis burung dari suku Ardeidae. Merupakan burung dengan bimorfisme atau memiliki dua bentuk, yakni dengan warna yang berbeda. Dalam bahasa Inggris, burung ini disebut Pacific Reef Egret, Eastern Reef Egret atau Eastern Reef Heron.

Common Shining Flycatcher |
Monarcha or Piezorhynchus alecto,
Small 16–18cm. Common in thickets near water in swamp forest, mangroves, and lowland second growth; in mountains, only in broad valleys; also occupies rainforest on islands, but does so less often on mainland. Forages from or just above ground in New Guinea region . Reclusive but noisy; conspicuous when it flies. Male: Entirely shiny blue-black. Note angular head. Bright orange-red mouth shows when bird sings and displays. Female: Bright orange-rufous with black cap and white underparts (may be tinged).Imm male: Similar to Female but often with black sides of neck. Juv: Similar to Female, but cap dull brown-black.

Large 25cm. Interior of lowland and hill forest and patchy regrowth. Common. An inveterate caller at dawn and dusk, but difficult to observe. Unique striped facial pattern. Male’s crown scalloped blue, Female’s darker. Juv breast darker-scalloped. .
