Geological map is the start of every preliminary assessment for works related to the exploitation of the Earth — mining, civil engineering, oil and gas industry. In the spirit of accelerating student’s skill of geological mapping, since 2011 the Student Union of Geological Engineering UGM has established the Geomapping Competition and acts as the pioneer of such competition in Indonesia. The aim

of this competition is to become a facilitator for geologist candidates to practice and apply their knowledge about geology and geoscience in fields and portray it trough geological map. Furthermore, this competition meaning is in order to consolidate brotherhood union of Asia-Pasific geological students and simultaneously introduce Indonesian tourism and culture to the world.
