After an outstanding inaugural year, the Achill International Film Festival makes a triumphant return from 11th to 13th May 2023, inviting filmmakers, artists, and cinephiles to the idyllic island for an immersive three-day experience celebrating the world of film.
Emily O'Callaghan, Director of the Achill International Film Festival, expressed her excitement about the event, where attendees will "enjoy breathtaking scenery while watching some of the finest recent films from both Ireland and around the world." She added that the festival provides a unique opportunity for participants to "mingle with locals, actors, film enthusiasts, and directors alike."
In addition to exciting networking events and lively parties, the festival will offer insightful Q&A sessions and engaging panel discussions. Attendees can explore the picturesque filming locations of the award-winning 'The Banshees of Inisherin' and take in the stunning beaches that Achill is known for. The festival's lineup also includes a Group Swim and a delightful Clambake.
Emily enthusiastically described Achill as "one of the most beautiful places on the planet," highlighting attractions such as Keem Beach, Keel Beach, The Atlantic Drive, Minaun Cliffs, and the Deserted Village. She emphasized the festival's commitment to fostering the growth of filmmaking in the West of Ireland and serving as a nexus for diverse creative pursuits.
"With a weekend full of creativity, fun, stimulating artistic conversation, and the breathtaking backdrop that only Achill Island can provide, the Achill International Film Festival has it all," Emily continued. She also revealed that several Irish, European, and World premieres would be screened at the event, with limited tickets still available for some screenings. "Only 10 days to go!" she exclaimed.
