Walking Irishman

I currently own Avoca Tours, a tourism company based in Avoca, County Wicklow which is continuing to grow as a major player in the Irish tourism market. We provide tourists from all over the world the opportunity to experience the real island of Ireland in County Wicklow with its diverse attractions, amazing landscape, and ancient history. www.avocatours.com

I have developed guided cultural herit

age walks throughout the county of Wicklow, and now also can add Panning for Gold to the mix. Avoca Tours partners with other agencies to provide great experiences for tourists. For those who prefer self-guided walking, I developed a Mobile Audio App with 9 walks and one cycle route around the county. The amazing technology and content used in creating this App has led developers testing it across the globe to delight in calling it “the future of travel apps”. Our partnership with Irish Rail is mutually beneficial. I write blogs to encourage visitors to use the train to get to their walking destination in our beautiful county. http://www.irishrail.ie/blog/post?a=551. They promote Avoca Tours App on the Rosslare to Dublin line and on their social media outlets. I have my own blog page http://www.walkingirishman.blogspot.ie/. I am director of Transport and Tours on the board of Wicklow County Tourism and have good partnerships with both Failte Ireland and Tourism Ireland. I am on the Failte Ireland driven Steering Group for Kildare and Wicklow and was involved in the production of The Grand Tour which is a self-drive around the destination of Kildare and Wicklow. I was also recently invited by Minister of Tourism Leo Varadkar to join a Working Group in the promotion of Ireland and most of all Wicklow as a destination, given its proximity to Dublin.
