🌱🦇GARDENING FOR BATS🦇🌱

We are delighted to launch our Gardening for Bats project - support bats in your own backyard! 🏡

🗓 FRIDAY 31ST JANUARY @ 7.30PM

🤔The project came from a question we are often asked by members of the public ‘What can I do for bats?’

The truth is, there is a lot anyone with an outdoor space can easily do for bats. With this project, we aim to:

- Create resources for gardeners to help them make bat and wildlife-friendly decisions when gardening.

- Provide signage, printed materials and resources for garden centres to help customers choose bat friendly trees, hedging and herbaceous perennials, as well as ponds and other features.

- For Irish plant nurseries - provide ‘I’m bat friendly’ labelling for Irish grown, native hedging and tree stock, as well as labels for herbaceous perennials that support nocturnal pollinators.

The pieces in todays photos the new Welcome sculptures were created by Martha Quinn Sculptor , commissioned by Sligo County Council through Town and Village Scheme with the support of Ballymote Tidy Towns and Tourism Ltd. and Ballymote Community Enterprise Company Ltd.

Ballymote Christmas Ballymote Christmas Lights

Drum Roll Please!! 🎅🏼🎄

Delighted to announce the Children have Fundraised €2250.00 for the Ballymote and Collooney Christmas Lights.

As promised Claire has matched the €1125.00 the children Fundraised from their Halloween Fancy Dress; Their Pajamas Day & Todays Toy Show Fundraiser.

Heartfelt Thank you to all our Parents who donated over the past few weeks; we understand it’s a hard time of year to donate. This is appreciated and we will all enjoy the Christmas Lights in Ballymote & Collooney this Christmas.

The Ballymote Christmas Lights Switch on is tomorrow at 6.30pm at the top of the Rock. See you all there.

If you didn't get a copy of The Book of Sligo, the library in Sligo town has some copies, and they are free.

Sligo County Library tell me they have a good few copies at the moment in Sligo town, and Ballymote, Tubbercurry and Enniscrone branches should be receiving copies to hand out next week as well!
