I was on my way back from dropping our daughter to school this morning when the rain stopped and the sky lit up with this beautiful rainbow.
I love the Burren. ♥️🧡💛🩶🩵
Winter opening hours:
We are OPEN every single day until Christmas Eve when we close for 3 days. This week is a great time to visit as we have 20% off all our products in the shop for Christmas gifts.
The Tearooms are fully open every weekend until Christmas, serving delicious soups, fresh bread, cheeseboards and pickles and a selection of melt in the mouth cakes.
Weekdays, Mondays to Fridays, the Tearooms is in winter warming mode and we offer complimentary tea, coffee and daily baked cookies for our customers.
Please do share this as many locals think that we are closed in the winter. Not at all! We are proud to be open all year.

The Burren Ecotourism Network will hold a beach clean up at Bishopsquarter Beach in Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare on Saturday, October 28th - starting at 10am
Such gatherings always result in the collection of significant amounts of plastic and sea debris. Research by Clean Coasts, has shown that of all of the plastics our oceans, 70% is sitting on the sea bed, 15% is floating and 15% washes up on the shoreline. These clean ups make a difference, and the more help that we get, the better. All are welcome, pickers, bags, gloves will be provided!

Since 1999 Cathleen Connole’s interesting seasonal restaurant in an old coach house just off the Burren Waymarked Walk has enchanted visitors with its simplicity and charm. Keenly environmentally aware, the family offers eco experiences (guided walks and cycles) as well as Cathleen’s delicious local, homegrown and home cooked food.

Although primarily a delightful spot for a daytime bite to eat (including traditional Afternoon Tea), they also offer packed lunches for walkers, sell gourmet hampers featuring local produce, take small parties for lunch or dinner and groups for private wine tasting, focusing on wines purchased directly from small independent growers including French wines from a wine co-operative with family connections in the Languedoc village of Saint-Jean-de-Serres. The Burren Ecotourism Network is resuming its monthly cleanups and inviting members of the community to get involved to help tackle waste in the region.

The first clean-up is scheduled for Flaggy Shore on Saturday 30th September at 10am-11am. This is followed by Bishops Quarter on Saturday, 28th October, Doolin Pier on Saturday 25th November and finally Ennistymon Cascades and the Glen walk on Wednesday 13th December.

We regularly work with Burren Beo, An Taisce and Clare County Council so it is a great community effort.

The Burren Ecotourism network has also produced a litter awareness video offering practical advice on how to protect the unique Burren landscape.
