Ash Tree Cottage is located in the scenic village of Bangor Erris in North West Mayo right on the 'W Carrowmore Lake is also just a two minute drive away.

Bangor Erris is the Gateway to the Erris region of Mayo and is located on the edge of Ballycroy National Park. The area is a haven for walkers with the waymarked 29km Bangor Trail located just south of well known Angling spot the River Owemore which flows through the village. The Erris region was voted ' the best place to go wild in Ireland ' in a recent comprehensive Irish Times competition. The
local population are without exception among the friendliest in the country and a warm welcome awaits all visitors. There is an abundance of unspoilt beaches, rivers, mountains , cliffs and endless inlets and coves to be explored in a kayak. If you like gentle strolls, longer walks or maybe some cycling the Bangor and general Erris area is right up your street. The Achill to Westport Greenway can be reached in 20 minutes by car. Erris has numerous beaches, the nearest just a ten minute drive away. There are three Blue Flag Beaches indeed within a 30 minute drive, at Elly Bay, Mullaghroe and Mulranny. If Golf is your forte there are magnificent 18 hole courses in Carne, Belmullet (20 mins drive), Ballina (30 mins drive), Wesport (55 mins drive) and Enniscrone (50 mins drive)
The cottage was built in 1947 & has been lovingly restored and completely renovated (2017) while retaining a homely and spacious feel. It has 3 bedrooms (2 doubles, 1 double/single), living room, kitchen, bathroom, shed with lock, private driveway and a large rear garden. There are 3 bedrooms with accommodation for seven people. The bathroom has a new instant electric shower and a new kitchen has been fitted. There is a large rear garden, off street parking and a lock up shed suitable for bicycles etc. Heating is via an oil boiler & the sitting room also has an open fireplace where you can relax and enjoy a log fire. The beautiful 'Ash Tree' on site is also an enjoyable feature. If you wish to find out more information regarding the Cottage and this beautiful part of the West of Ireland please feel free to get in touch. All areas are available for guests to access. I will be there to welcome you to the cottage to show you around and I'm happy to answer any questions you have about the area. After the introduction I will leave you to enjoy the property by yourselves. If you need to get in touch during your stay I can be contacted via phone or email. Check In is anytime after 4pm

The house is also fitted with a smoke alarm, heat alarm, carbon monoxide alarms, first aid kit and a fire extinguisher. We also leave high vis safety vests for guests safety when walking/cycling on the local roads.

One of the must do activities when staying at the cottage is a trip to Inishkea Islands.
We were lucky enough to experience it ourselves today thanks to Sean at Belmullet Boat Charter
We saw playful bottlenose & porpoise dolphins, seals and a wide range of bird life.
We were fully informed of the islands history thanks to the knowledgeable tour guide Kea, an island descendant.
Got to relax on white sand beaches and swam in crystal clear waters. Hiked to Alt Mór at the top of the South Island to take in the spectacular views.
We even got in a bit of fishing on the way back and thanks to the expertise of Josh caught some cod, mackerel & po***ck.
A 10/10 experience!

Elly Beach is a fine sandy beach located 9km south of Béal an Mhuirthead (Belmullet) in Erris, County Mayo. The beach is clean, sheltered and ideal for swimming, sailing, surfing and other water sports.

Eagle Island is a small uninhabited island off the coast of Erris, County Mayo, Ireland in the Atlantic Ocean.
It’s home to an automated lighthouse with a range of 18 nautical miles.

Erris Head Loop Walk - 5km - Spectacular scenery along grassy paths, earth banks and open ground around the steep cliffs of Mayo’s rugged and beautiful Erris Head. Walk includes an EIRE WWII marking, ruined watch tower, views of Llandavuck Island, Pigeon Rock & dramatic sea arches.
