@comerford914 walked the four of us around the extraordinary medieval capital of Ireland today. Cill Chainnigh’ cell or church of Canice’ anglicised to Kilkenny . Starting with an early lunch @officialkilkennydesign and a meander into the craft yard where I picked up 3 items for 3 daughters from Michelle @buntingfairy and lovely home made soaps from Denise @[email protected] even managed to get his wedding ring’s dents rounded out by a silversmith in the craft yard. We skirted around the castle which is a magnificent recreational space with 21 hectares of parkland, walked high street, scooted down alleyways, with John talking as we walked. Remains of the walls, the Shee Alms House built 1582 ‘to accommodate 12 poor persons’. Most fascinating was the leper’s squint . A small opening(now sealed) in @stcanicescathedral where those with leprosy heard mass. The Red Book of Ossory written 700 years ago is on exhibition, well worth a visit if you are near St. Canice’s. We only touched on the history but this jaunt has whetted my appetite to learn more. Thanks John #kilkennycity #thecastleyard #kilkennycastle #stcanicescathedral #representativechurchbody
The National Botanical Gardens is where we visited today. The gardens were founded in 1795 by the Dublin Society (later the Royal Dublin Society) and are today in State ownership through the Office of Public Works. The Royal Dublin Society (RDS) is an Irish philanthropic organisation and members club which was founded as the ‘Dublin Society’ on 25 June 1731 with the aim to see Ireland thrive culturally and economically and preserve the rural and farming commmunities throughout Ireland. The river Tolka runs through the 19.5 hectares and is only 3km from Dublin City centre. From what I observed, most of the plants and specimen trees are labelled. We popped into St. Anne’ Park in Clontarf and lunch at the Red Stables. Delish 😋To round off the day we caught the tail end of the Grand Prix showjumping from the @dublinhorseshow on a tele in a pub 🌸🌺🌷🌼🥀🌹🐎#nationalbotanicgardens #failteireland #royaldublinsociety#rhsi #rhsibellefield

The best of rural Ireland was experienced today @tullamoreshow. I could not believe the quantity and quality of home produce exhibits in 2024, the years when we supposedly have less time for baking, gardening, painting, sewing..Today’s show was testimony to hundreds of Irish people of all ages carrying on the traditions of our grandparents. Great to see new and more established businesses in the @visitoffaly tent . Terrific day and my Dublin cousin and family braved the roads to travel. Well done to all the organisers..loved it and got my brochures circulated and my steps in too 😅#offalytourism #feigherysfarmbeetrootjuice #tullamoreshow
Thanks so much to https://thefactory.ie/ and Paula, senior graphic designer. I am picking up 250 brochures on Friday evening in time for some to go on the Visit Offaly stand at Tullamore Show this Sunday. 🐑🐑🚜🐮🐮👨🌾🌾

Today is Mothering Sunday in Ireland and my mother is visiting her brother in Portland Maine USA. Our family are thankful for all she gives to her large family. 💞
