I'm blown away by the really great response to my new page really great tours ! Thank you all for your support, likes, follows, shares and, of course, your early bookings! I've got a feeling it's going to be a busy summer 😉
A little about me: I was born and raised on Station Road in Ballina. Some of you might know my family, of Duffys Bakery, AKA Knutty Krust 😆💭🍞 My first time in Erris was as a kid, riding in a bread delivery van! After graduating from University in London, I ran my own café in Ballina for over 10 years, managed the expansion of a donut franchise in Bermuda and worked under a Michelin Star Chef in London. Leaving the baking trade to go travelling, I met my partner, bought a campervan and the rest is history! We travelled the length and breadth of Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales, visiting the tourist attractions big and small and marvelling at what our island has to offer to tourists. We Irish don't tend to shout about our homeland enough!
Settling in Erris in 2018, I began leading tours of Blacksod Lighthouse, Blacksod Village and the Inishkea Islands, learning the local lore and history of this incredible area. I set up and run a community conservation group called Erris at Night which meets monthly to celebrate and protect our valuable Dark Skies and educates about the ill effects of light pollution. Training in ecotourism, Gaeilge, Dark Skies and sustainability, I'm so enthusiastic about encouraging sustainable tourism to our area in a more meaningful manner. Tourism is all about experiences, about hearing the stories of the past and considering how they may inform the future.
Erris is a tight-knit community of passionate people who are proud of their little corner of the country. We have a wealth of rare flora and fauna, epic views and world class beaches here. We have lots to offer, in history, heritage, wildlife and, of course, the Irish language you'll find spoken locally. We have Wild Nephin National Park, the Dark Skies designation, many lighthouses, a thriving maritime trade and even our own bumblebee. I'm excited to bring dedicated, accessible tours of Erris to suit all groups and ages. The feedback from my guided tours is fantastic, people connect more with an area through guided interpretation and can have all their questions answered directly. I can facilitate young and old, visitors with reduced mobility, schools, families and much more!
I can't wait to meet you all this summer. My tours are for everyone, local, national and international.
Whether bird watching, whale watching, history loving, surfing, golfing, walking, island-hopping, relaxing or simply looking for a new way to spend the day, really great tours is open for business!
Let's take a look around together!
