A truly unique home built in the 1800s in a breath-taking location has been lovingly restored in 2020 for the modern discerning holiday maker, by Brian and Claire. Prospect Cottage is steeped in the history of tourism in Bundoran, an

d was formerly used as a B&B in the middle of the last century. The former owner Molly D lived a full life into her 102 year here in this beautiful albeit humble home. It has been transformed into a spacious 3-bedroom cottage with 2 modern bathrooms with power showers, (downstairs wet room wheelchair accessible), and 2 large reception/living areas. There is a spacious courtyard with access from the kitchen/living/dining patio doors, a wetsuit drying room, a quaint front porch, and a spacious back hallway, stairway and landing. The character of the old cottage was maintained, by recreating the old entrance doorways to allow maximum light into the once dark cottage. The addition of a wood burning stove into a Traditional Old Irish Cottage Hearth, is a feture of the open plan kitchen living dining area downstairs. The whole cottage has been tastefully decorated in calm light colours, giving a further illusion of space and tranquillity. The deep window resesses are great as window seats, inviting you to watch the world go by, or read a book in peace and calm. The Picture Window upstairs has opened up a view towards the ocean which is 50 metres away with Sliabh League in the horizon. The thoughtful design “flipped” the living area to upstairs, with a small Pod Kitchen to complement upstairs living, with the main fitted kitchen downstairs, giving function and form to family living.

Our coastal trails are some of the gems of the Sligo landscape. From Enniscrone to Aughris, Streedagh to Mullaghmore Head and other places besides, we are so lucky to have these trails on our doorstep to enjoy throughout the four seasons of the year.

Here this weekend we have the local handmade market ran by In Bundoran & Beyond Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th from 12pm - 5pm in the reception area of our centre. Both days have different crafters, bakers and artists.
We look forward to our local community joining them to check out what they offer. They have jewelry, bake goods, candles, crocheting, toys, hairbands, resin, woodwork, sewing items, artwork, jams and so much more.
They will be offering tea/coffees to raise money for our centre. See you all then.

Not one, but two outdoor sea pools to choose from

DONEGAL'S THRUPENNY POOL!

The Thrupenny Pool is one of two outdoor sea water swimming pools in Bundoran, County Donegal. They're a bit like infinity pools, providing safe enclosed havens for nervous swimmers and children. The Thrupenny Pool measures approximately 160 ft x 85 ft and is roughly 5 ft deep at the sea wall.

If you're wondering what thrupenny means, thrupence was another name for the old three pence coin before Ireland's currency was changed over to the decimal system on 15th February 1971. There were 240 pence to one pound so thrupence was worth one eightieth of a pound. The Thrupenny Pool got its name because is used to cost thrupence to swim here. 🥰
