Happy St Patrick's day everyone hope u all enjoy the day and the lovely weather. It's a great time to get out into the garden and get some work done and there is still some time to get your root balled trees for this season but u need to be quick 😄

This Sunday the 6th of March is the start of National Tree Week 2016 which runs until Sunday the 13th of March. Be sure to check out whats happening in your local area and get involved if you can! It's also a great time for getting around to planting those new trees in your own garden, we have some great value on trees available here in the nursery at the moment :)

This is the Cedrus atlantica glauca or Blue atlas Cedar and is quite striking in it's appearance. It's an evergreen conifer that has silvery blue-green needles.

The Acer griseum (Paperbark Maple) is one of the more unusual trees in the nursery as it's peeling, papery, chestnut brown bark peels away in curly flakes all throughout the year. It's leaves are orange in the spring turning pinkish-brown then yellow and deep green through the summer and finally turn a deep red in Autumn.

Rotterdam in Holland is getting a 'Bobbing Forest' of 20 Elm trees which will be planted in March of this year in it's Rijnhaven Urban Harbor, what a great idea for harbors and lakes :)

A group of Dutch entreprenuers and designers from Mothership, spotted an art piece named ‘In Search Of Habitus’, by artist Jorge Bakker, and were inspired to create a life-size version for the city of Rotterdam, by installing 20 trees that will bob in the water, just like a fishing float.

One of our more unusual plants is the Corlyus avellanea 'Contorta' or corkscrew Hazel. When it sheds it's leaves in Autumn you can really see the dark and twisted brances that collect raindrops in all the nooks and crannys before the lovely green leaves appear again in the Spring.

This is the Euonymus alatus commonly known as the Burning bush. It is one of our favorite Autumn flowering trees that we have on the nursery :)
