Works ongoing to restore water supply following a burst in South Tipperary

Uisce ร‰ireann is working to restore water supply as quickly as possible to impacted customers in Shronell Beg, Cullen, Ballinard, Limerick Junction and the surrounding areas in Co. Tipperary following a burst water main.

Water service repair crews have been dispatched and are carrying out the required repair works, with every effort being made to complete this work as quickly as possible. Works are scheduled to take place until 4:30 pm this evening.

Following repair works, it typically takes three to four hours for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas as the water refills the network and the local reservoir, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network.

Tomorrow morning at the Ragg Camogie Grounds, Cashel Camogie Club play a county Junior B final against Moyle Rovers.

The town has been having some great sporting success of late, and I'd like to wish this group of women all the best as they tackle their county final

Tipperary Sports Partnership are delighted to announce that they will be running Strength and Conditioning Classes for men over 45 at Dundrum Community Hall, throughout the month of November.

The classes will be starting on Wednesday November 6th and continuing each Wednesday night for four weeks, from 7pm to 8pm.

The cost will be โ‚ฌ20 plus booking fee, and you can book at the link below.

Can any business person reading this, or anyone who knows a business person, can you please share it.

Tipperary County Council and Tipperary Local Enterprise Office, are in the process of launching a "Love Tipperary" pre paid gift card, and want local businesses to sign up, so that money can be kept in local business

The card is simple. It can be pre paid similar to a Perx/One for All card, and then spent in businesses which sign up to accept the "Love Tipperary" card. Bascially like Perx, it's a pre paid Mastercard.

For businesses who accept it, it has the advantage of having a 0% commission for the first 12 months, so everything you take in with the card, stays with the business.

But it will only work if there is a widespread take up, so that people have greater choices in the number of businesses that they can spend their money in.

While it is understandable that much of the GAA attention in town this weekend is focused on Sunday, it is also a huge weekend for the camogie club, and the ladies right deserve our support as well.

So best of luck to the two adult teams who both play in county semi finals. The camogie club is doing massive work at every level from juvenile to seniors, and deserve all the support and success that they get.

Please show your support for our fantastic club girls who have put in huge work and commitment in both the senior and junior championship.

Just want to wish the senior hurlers, TJ and the management team, and everyone else involved in getting the team to the county final so far, and hope they can take that final step and win on Sunday in Thurles.

I have to say I love a positive story and a positive outcome, and think we should be giving credit where it is due, for example in a case like this.

Just over a fortnight ago, Robert O Keeffe from the Cashel/Golden/Tipperary anglers, contacted me to ask about removing trees which had fallen into the River Suir at Ballygriffen in Golden. The anglers concern was that the blocked bridge would cause problems for the trouth and salmon populations in the River as they wouldn't be able to get back to spawning grounds. And excellent contribution on their behalf to environmental protection.

So we brought this to the council, and although it was a tough and even dangerous job to tackle, the council workers were able to finally complete the work this weekend, and the Bridge is fully cleared, with other vegetation cut back to ensure the problem shouldn't re arise.

Some will say "sure that's their job".. but it's a timely reminder to the huge amount of work the council staff get asked to do, in all weathers and conditions, and they do their best to get through it as best they can. So fair play to them.

And hopefully the anglers can enjoy the river for years to come because of their work.

Following on from last nights post about car break ins, but also in response to increases in anti social and criminal behaviour in town, Cashel Library will host a meeting with An Gardai next Tueaday morning, 8th October, as part of their Memory Cafe.

While the Memory Cafe helps people with issues around dementia, this talk will be open to all, and will give advice on personal and property safety, especially coming into the longer and darker Winter months.

Please note that many people who might benefit from this talk, might not be on social media, so can you please make them aware of the time and date, and if there are other issues, please contact me or the library to see if they can be sorted out.

It's in relation to discounted ESB/energy bills. It looks pretty professional, but just to re-iterate, never open links in a text message, and never give out personal information.

Please let those not on social media know this is doing the rounds and be careful out there

Can people please ensure that their cars are locked at night time, before they go to bed

I shouldn't have to give this advice, but I have received multiple videos throughout this evening, of people testing car doors to see if they were unlocked.

To those who are trying to open cars.. these videos have been passed on to the Gardai.. and there are lots of video evidence from estates right across the town from CCTV and Ring bell cameras..

After this weekends games in the Stadium in Thurles, we now know Cashel's opponents in the upcoming Premier Intermediate final, and they will face off against Carrick Swan, with the details of the game to be announced in the next day or so

They are likely to be played the weekend after next, so that gives us time to show the players and management team the support they deserve, by turning the town Green and Red in the meantime.

Local business Premier Sports are doing deals on bunting, bobble hats, flags and banners, and it would mean a huge amount to the team if they seen the support they have from the town. And we can help a local business while we're at it.

While we're being distracted by the cost of bike sheds and security huts, very few people are examining the absolutely scandalous amounts of taxpayers money a small number of accomodation providers are getting for housing asylum seekers..

This is grand robbery on a massive scale.

To put it in context, over 1 billion euro has already been spent housing refugees and asylum seekers in the first half of 2024.. first half. This is well in excess of what is spent on providing housing supports to Irish people at a time of a massive housing crisis, and a ridiculous rise in rents all over the country.

This morning Leo Varadkar finally announced that "we have taken in too many people in too short a lenght of time"..

When I said that too years ago, I was called "racist".. "far right".. "stirring hatred"...

Now.. when there is an election on the horizon, Mr Vardkar's tune has changed.

All I ever asked for.. and still ask for, is an honest debate on how we can continue to run an asylum policy, that is out of control.

For reference.. here's one example of how the taxpayer is being scammed.

The D Hotel in Drogheda went on sale last Autumn.. for 10 million euro. It was bought by a private buyer, and turned into an asylum centre.

In the first half of 2024, the Government paid the new owners, 5.6 million euro. For half a year.

Even better.. the Government signed a contract for the D Hotel to be paid for looking after 500 IPA's applicants.. and are paying them for that 500

But, the firs safety certificate for the hotel, only allows a maximum of 255 guests to be accomodated at the hotel.. so the owners are being paid for twice as many people as the hotel will ever be allowed take in

Forget 360k for a bike shed
Forget 1.4 million for a security hut
Forget even 2.2 billion for a childrens hospital

By the end of this decade, taxpayers will have forked out 8-10 billion to accomodate asylum seekers.. and a small number of greedy hotel owners, will be laughing all the way to the bank

Hi all, I'm pleased to announce this morning, that I will be part of a working group of people who are organising a Christmas Fair in Cashel this December.

Part of my reason to get elected, was to help stimulate the town economically and bring people to Cashel, not just to spend their money, but to show off the town and it's vibrant Arts and Crafts community.

Over the past couple of months, a working group of people, who have now registered under the name Caiseal Le Chรฉile (Cashel Together), have put two projects on the table, and this will be the second of these.

We will be putting on a Christmas Fair in Halla na Fรฉile, where we hope to show off the best of the Cashel Arts community, and also give those in that community a chance to showcase their wares. Hopefully people will take the chance to buy a Christmas present for a loved one (or themselves!!), and also come into town and visit the other businesses coming up to the Festive Period.

More details on the event will be posted in the weeks ahead, but if you are interested, or know of anyone interested in taking a food or a craft stall on the day, please let me know, so that we can organise numbers and spaces in the Hall.

This we hope will be the first event of a wider plan, to create a larger Christmas market in the town in the coming years.
