Swim Ireland is the National Governing Body for swimming, water polo, diving and synchronised swimming across the 32 counties of the island of Ireland. We are recognised as such by the Department of Tourism, Transport, Sport and the Arts, through Sport Ireland and Sport Northern Ireland. We are recognised at world level by FINA and at European level by LEN. Swim Ireland exists to encourage partici
pation in aquatics, develop excellence and regulate our sport. We are a non-profit organisation, working closely with volunteers to achieve our missions. Swim Ireland has over 18,000 members and more than 160 affiliated clubs in every county across all four provinces. We offer a range of โLearn to Swimโ programmes to pool centres throughout the island of Ireland. In particular, the โChild Learn to Swimโ programme, which rewards children who achieve the objectives of the programme with a range of Certificates and Badges. Swim Ireland also offers an extensive range of aquatic qualifications, like Swimming Teacher and Swimming Coach.

As Swim Ireland continue to support the growth of competitive swimming at national and international level, the need for qualified and experienced officials is also required. This ensures our athletes receive the best competition experience relative to their level, whether at club, regional, national of international events.
At the start of the LA 2028 cycle, we are seeking feedback and suggestions from currently qualified officials at all levels. Your input will form the basis of an Official's development plan, which will be implemented on a national basis, with a focus on club support.

Nominations are still open for the Swim Ireland Club Aquatic Apprenticeship, which has been designed for young people aged 16-25 to support their club and remain involved in aquatic sport for longer.
25 successful applicants will receive a โฌ100 discount on a Level 1 assistant coaching qualification, and will volunteer within their own club, receiving mentoring from an experienced coach.
Swim Ireland clubs can nominate up to two club members to participate in the Club Aquatic Apprenticeship, with nominations open until 30 September 2024.
