ARTIC CHAR IN THE SUNSHINE!!!

Today's post comes from the Beautiful Lough Eske in Co Donegal. A stunning West of Ireland Lough. An interesting fact about Lough Eske is that it holds one of our native Irish fish the Artic Char. Artic char in Ireland are a relic species that have been here since the ice age. There is very few Loughs in Ireland where they can now be found, but Lough Eske is one of these lakes. Artic Char in Ireland are usually found in deeper or upland lakes , with deep colder waters.

NATURES BOUNTY!! A FEAST FOR THE SENSES

The natural world is amazing and left undisturbed it can provide for all our local animals, and ourselves . I was walking in the woods yesterday and my senses were in overload with the smells of wild Garlic and the noise of all the birds around me. Lots of people use wild Garlic every year in the cooking and they look forward to this natural bounty appearing every year.

EARLY DAWNS LIGHT!!

I was out and about as the first rays of light appeared this morning. The local bird life and myself got up at the same time today :) What a wonderful time of the day to be out. The local bird choir was in full voice this morning for the Dawn Chorus. It never gets old :)

DAWN CHORUS!!
I was out and about yesterday morning at day break. A beautiful time of the day to be out exploring. The Dawn Chorus is in full swing over here in Ireland. It's wonderful to just stand, think of nothing, and take in all the wonderful sounds, songs etc being made by our local bird species. It really is one of natures wonderful spectacles

It's tick season!

From April to October, keep a keen eye out for these tiny creatures. If you do find yourself bitten, it's important to not panic and remove safely with a tick card/tweezers, or have your GP remove it ⛑️

KINGFISHER'S DAY OUT!! I was out and about on the Shannon - Erne Blue way today. An amazing place for a day out. I saw lots of our native animals on my travels today. A highlight has to be seeing one of our most beautiful Irish birds, the Kingfisher. Kingfishers are a beautiful neon blue colour and are a sight to behold as they flash past you going about their daily business :)

THE FIRST CUCKOO OF THE YEAR.
I was out exploring some of our wonderful local lakes yesterday, on the Leitrim, Cavan boarder and I heard my first Cuckoo of the year :) Its a sound that always fills me with joy as it means the long winter is definitely over. Summer is just around the corner :)
