Cool and a little gray but a lovely day for the beginning of November. And while there was no sign of a mackerel we had a good day drifting on the reefs with plenty fish from the bottom.

It’s getting close to the end of my season and if today is the last day…it was a good way to end!
We got back on the Sixgill mark and got set up with lots of activity around us. Birds dolphins and Tuna. So of course we had to try a floated bait as well. That did not work but Andrew did get another fine Sixgill at about 750lbs. And while he was fighting it a couple of Tuna bust just beside our float, that would have been an interesting double hook up!!

The season is coming to an end here as the days get shorter and the weather more wintery. I’m still going out the odd day if I get a weather window and was out last Friday at Tuna. Despite big Bluefin tuna feeding hard and jumping round the boat we could not get a hookup. Very frustrating!
Today with Andrew over from England for a few days on the chance of getting the weather, we took advantage of the fine day to try again for Sixgill. And it did not disappoint. We had 2 solid hookups and 2 fish to the boat, both around 800lbs. Happy days😊🦈🦈. .

I had a couple of lads if for a few days at the Sixgill. They said when they arrived that “ when they had a Sixgill each” they would Luke to try other things! I laughed and said they would be lucky to get one Sixgill between them!! Anyway yesterday we did not have a sign of a big bite. But we headed out again today to try. Within a couple of hours we had a good fish on but about 10 minutes into the fire it broke away. What could we do but try again and in another while we had another heavy take. After about a 20 minute fight we had a 600lb Sixgill to the surface. Everyone delighted but sure we had to go again. Just as it came to time to be thinking of going home we got another fish on. This time it took about 35 minutes to get a bigger fish which I estimated at 900lbs to the surface. Every one delighted and sure tomorrow we can try something else!!!😎🦈🦈

Every day is better if it starts with fresh Mackerel! And plenty mackerel in the estuary.
General fishing was a bit slower than yesterday but the lads still had som nice fish with a double figure Huss and a 40lb Tope being the best of the day.

It was good to be back out today after a couple of days out with “technical” problems!
It was wet and windy but we still managed a good day in the estuary. There was plenty mackerel which is always a good start. The first mark had lots of pack Tope up to 20lbs and steady action. Our second spot started a bit slower but came on and we had lots of Thornback rays and some bigger Tope.

The fishing was a lot slower today on the drift. The fish where there but very hard to get action out of them. Strange how the easterly breeze slows them down. We went to an inshore reef and has some great action there to finish the day. Some fine pollack about it as well. Glorious day on the sea though and a great way to work up a thirst!!

What a lovely day on the sea!☀️☀️🎣🎣
I don’t often put up a picture of myself but I could not resist this one with a nice John Dory. The lads had steady fishing all day. Mostly Pollack, but a lot of small ones which we put back. We did manage to get a few fine keepers as well👍

Lovely to get out west today with blue skies. A new group in and their first time to Ireland. There was a far swell and it got to the lads but one fished on and had some nice fish. Back in early and regroup for tomorrow. Al least the forecast is very good!

A slow start today and still confined to shelter but we did get down towards the Loop.
Fishing was very slow on anchor so we switched to light tackle and had some fun on the drift. Blue skies as well which was nice.

This fishing is strange! Again a strong Northerly wind so we were fishing in some of the same marks as yesterday. But today only a few Bullhuss and dogfish to show for our trip. Yesterday we had steady Rays and Tope. Not a sign of them today???

From a wet start it cleared into a Sunny day but still windy. We fished a couple of sheltered marks and got very steady fishing. A good start with plenty fresh mackerel and then a steady run of Rays with the excitement of the odd Tope. Quite a few Tope around which is nice to see.

We got a small weather window to get out west this morning. Even by the time we got on the reefs it was freshening but we stuck it out for a few hours. Some nice fish about.
If we do get a few days of light westerly winds ld say we could have great fishing but this ever changing weather is just a battle. Only the hardy stick it😉🎣🎣💪💪

Back at it with a new group. We got out late today and had a very fresh northern wind blowing. So a few mackerel and a while at anchor. A nice scrap with a Tope and some fine Bullhuss was the best of the day. Let’s hope we get a few days away west this week although it’s hard to be sure with the weather. We take it a day at a time!☀️☀️🎣🎣

Not perfect fishing conditions with a north easterly breeze but a lot nicer day on the sea. And as the day went on and wind shifted north and got lighter the fishing came on. Had some nice Po***ck off the reefs along with Coalfish, Spurdog’s, gurnard, Ling and Whiting.

We got out west today but with an ebb tide and a fresh NE breeze we had a very fast drift and it was hard to fish. So we came back into the shelter and ended up anchored and had some sport with some very lively Tope.
