We're so delighted to work with Fingal Heritage, Fingal County Council and local communities, to help to explore and record the rich legacy of field names and related intangible heritage in our local landscapes.
Join us for the upcoming workshop – details in the original post 👇
The Fingal Fieldnames project is back! Abarta Heritage and Fingal County Council Heritage Officer, Christine Baker are hosting a Fingal Fieldnames Workshop in Carnegie Library, Swords (K67 N5H2), on Wednesday, 26th of March, at 7 pm. All are welcome to attend
The Fingal Fieldnames project seeks to record the unique field names found in Fingal that offer insight into the history of the area
The project was first launched in 2018 and many names have been gathered since then-see https://meitheal.logainm.ie/fingal-fieldnames/
A new phase of the project is now underway with a free training workshop in Sword's Carnegie Library. At the workshop, you'll hear about interesting folklore connected to Fingal’s field names and of the experiences of former volunteers. We’ll also show you how to record field names in your locality and where you can find out more about the story of these names. To find out more about this exciting project or to become a volunteer, visit https://www.fingal.ie/council/service/fingal-fieldnames-project.
Fingal Fieldnames Project is an action of the Fingal Heritage Plan 2024-2030.
