Our mission is to bring seaweed from tide to table, restoring an age old tradition to nourish the new food generation. Blath na Mara has been operating on Inis Mor, the largest of The Aran Islands, since 2002. A family business started by Máirtín, he is now joined by his daughter Jenny with her Kiwi husband David, who returned from New Zealand with their young family to make Inis Mór their home.
We hand harvest edible seaweeds such as Dulse/Dillisk, Atlantic Wakame, Kombu, Carrageen Moss, Sea Spaghetti, Pepper Dulse & Sea Lettuce from the beautiful clean shores of the Aran Islands, Galway Bay, Ireland. We then carefully dry and prepare the seaweed as is mainly sold as a food ingredient with some of our customers using it as a primary ingredient for cosmetics. We also harvest the Fucus Serratus seaweed which has been used for hundreds of years in seaweed baths, the oils from the seaweed have a truly remarkable effect on skin, hair and body.
